Nice ones. Japanese white-eye - resident and quite common. The blue and white flycatcher is a passage migrant, only very occasionally seen in Hong Kong during the spring on its way north.

Chinese goshawk as on your photo?
This was a marksman shot in Pak Kok on 28 Apr.

Nice one - a white-winged starling. Yes, the earlier one looks like a Chinese goshawk. These typically pass through HK in the last week of April. At other times you never see them.

Let me consider that seriously, Zep!

There must be an easy way to add a Like button here, probably even integrating it with users' Facebook accounts. Anybody know how to do that?

I like getting 40+ Likes for some of my Facebook-posted photos (at Lamma Gung) and it's a welcome and helpful feedback what to post (and what not to post)...

Here's a photo I would probably NOT post on Facebook as it would attract lots of negative feedback, I'd reckon. This morning, on my way to Lamma Winds, just on the side of the path below Tai Ling.

I just love Rambler's candid photos, so different from the usual neutral poses favoured in bird photography! I made a little collage from his best shots of Red-Whiskered Bulbuls so far, as a Wildlife Photo of the Week collage.

Let's see how many Likes this collage will get on Facebook.

It looks like we have a new Official Court Birdographer again, FINALLY!
Take a bow, dear Rambler! Free drinks for you in Green Cottage when we meet next time!

Anonymous Guy is still about and about on Lamma, dogwalking every day, but has given up bird photography, selling his bird watcher lens and shutting down his photo website.
Many thanks for all the amazing and fantastic photos he's shared in this most popular-ever (by number of replies and views) topic of this entire forum!

These Red-Whiskered Bulbuls are probably some of the most common and popular birds on Lamma. The least shy of humans (except pigeons), they can often be observed close up, as long as you keep still and make only slow movements. They have been known quite frequently to nest on our balconies and rooftops this time of year.

Photos of their beautiful nests, speckled eggs and hatchlings:

P.S. Yes, I know that last photo in the collage is NOT a bulbul but it was just too good to miss and fitted perfectly into the end of the collage...

OK, 10 Likes on Facebook within 2 hours, but, even better, one of them emailed me some photos from a new rooftop nest of bulbuls, including photos of the eggs and a hatchling!

I can try to resist the vanity of fame and glory, but the free drinks – I can’t!

Thanks for the bulbuls poster!

Nice ones. Just for the sake of accuracy, the bird bottom right fleeing the scene in unseemly haste is a Japanese White-eye.

Zep, thanks for the correction. I know full well that the green bottom doesn't belong to a bulbul. See my disclaimer in small print just above the collage...
