Post subject:  Tin squatter shed plus pig pen: new landmark in Taipeng

Lamma-gung hasn't still got around to previewing latest addition to squatter sheds below Pinky's Stone Castle at Taipeng: miniature pond ringed by cluster of plants and trees, sitting out area with deck chairs, divans and cushions on pallet discards, improvised fencing for massive pig sunning itself in a makeshift pen. All this believed to be the handiwork of a blonde Qwaipo with a tattoo on her back who regularly salvages discarded home appliances/furniture/pots/pans/lamp-stands from rubbish bins or dumpsites: the ingenious lady, name unknown, is understood to have learnt her craft after a valuable apprenticeship in an Israeli kibutz. When are you going to do a colour-spread on this unique new addition to Lamma's flora and fauna?

Wow, all the way up on Tai Peng Mountain? I haven't been up there in yonder far-distant mountains in the clouds in ages...

What's my Tai Peng Correspondent up to these days? He should be reporting any interesting news from the far outer reaches of our fair isle!

Well, I've finally found out a bit more about this domestic pig.

I've actually featured "Sumo the Vegetarian Pot-Bellied Pig" before in the Lamma-zine. It belongs to Karen who acquired her farming and livestock raising skills in a Kibbutz in Israel, her home country. She just left for a long trip home yesterday, but has promised an interview and photo opportunity with the piggies after her return.

Sumo has been working hard as the organic waste disposal for the Bookworm Cafe for years, when Karen still lived close to Power Station Beach. Here's an old picture I took about 2 years ago, putting it onto Nick the Bookman's website:

Can still smell it on a hot humid night on the walk back to The Land of Pak Kok :(
When one is gasping for breath at the top of the hill
Is the pig still there?

Its quite bestial they way he is fondling that pig.
Surely the moderators should censor the picture in mind of the the younger pure of heart, unused to the sordid proclivities of some that take this year of the pig a little too far,

No censorship on this site!
The worst that can usually happen is that you get moved to Fight Club.
Is there anybody "pure of heart" reading these forums? Nah, I didn't think so...

Yes, the pig is still there! Sumo has at least doubled in weight since I shot the photo above. He's even got a girlfriend now, Peggy!

Here's a recent picture of this hog haven in Tai Peng. It's open to the public and there are quite a few families visiting this little "zoo" on weekends, including birds, fish and dogs. Photo gallery in progress...

Might as well go the full hog and have a lamma porcine beauty contest being it the year of the pig and all.
