Submitted by the Waterfront's new management, the same people as behind The Island Bar. Kumar will be managing both. Soft opening on Sunday, July 8, 2007.

The Waterfront - Under new management.

All of the good things which were available under the old management and some gradual changes coming shortly. Primarily a restaurant, we plan to introduce some new food items, different wines and of course retain the fully stocked bar area. All enhanced by the great location, panoramic view and refreshing sea breezes.

Come visit us for breakfast, lunch, dinner or afternoon tea. Or even for a sunset cocktail.

58 Main Street (on the Waterfront!), Yung Shue Wan, Tel 2982 1168

Are there still rooms to rent at the Waterfront?
We will be in HK for a week early September and it would be nice to stay there again.

I don't know Eileen, if you and Malcolm are staying there we might just decide to throw an all-night disco dance party. I know how you enjoyed those Waterfront parties (I was not one of the perpetrators).

Under the new management, how's the place changed? How's the food nowadays, cooked by a Lamma-born and bred young chef?

As the place is under new management with a new cook, the poll with ratings has been reset to zero. Please vote again after trying the new menu.

We had Sunday morning breakfast there yesterday and it was really tasty.
We also had never seen that many people before in the Waterfront on a Sunday morning, it was almost full.

We had brunch here today, it's a nice place, food and service are good with reasonable price.
We arrived about 11am and had a big breakfast and a lunch set (lamb rack), actually lunch set should available after noon but the cook gave me a favour. Very Happy

Absolutely crap. Pure, unadulterated c..r..a..p. Same old menu as every other western "restaurant" on Lamma - only not even as good (and that's saying something).

I ordered a Caesar salad - how hard can it be, you might think. Romaine lettuce (ok....), croutons (out of a packet), bacon bits (out of a packet), parmesan cheese (dry, dusty powder out of a Kraft tube) and no dressing. Wow. When I enquired about dressing, the waitress brought me a bottle of olive oil and a bottle of vinegar. When I pointed out that it was a Caesar salad so maybe the right dressing would be good, she finally reappeared from the kitchen with something that looked like the chef may have hawked up himself. Yeuw.

Maybe a glass of wine with your meal? You can choose from our extensive wine list - would that be red or white rotgut, madam?

And where was the "new management"? Nowhere to be seen.

I believe the term is shitters.

Unfortunately all the restaurants on the island suffer from having the same rotation of staff for the last 7 years. The only decent place in recent history was the Bistro and even then everyone just moaned about how expensive it was and that you could get fish and chips cheaper at the Hu Flung Dung or whatever cheap restaurant was operating at any one given time.

Had breakfast and lunch there recently. I thought the service was excellent, and the food was pretty good too.

Valentine's Day menu, submitted by The Waterfront.

What's happening in other restaurants around the village?
There's an Unlucky in Love? concert in The Island Bar on the supposedly unlucky Friday the 13th, just before Valentine's Day.
