It didn’t take long for the newly renovated playground to be vandlised. A number of the padded boards near the bouncy Dolphin have been slashed with and a blade of some sorts. Along with random slashing, A – Z was also so carved out.

I go to the playground with my kids quite often and we have waited for the renovation for a long time, so I was outraged to see that some infantile idiot had spoiled it for the rest. While down there on Saturday, I asked a few of the older kids if they’d heard who was responsible and they all gave me the same name. I knew the lad that they had said and approached him about it. He denied that it was him (obviously) but said that some one else had already accused him..! No Smoke without fire..

If you have heard anything, please post a reply so that we can start a witch-hunt that could lead to a kangaroo court and finally a lynching.

But joking aside, the responsible should be made to put it right..

I urge you to give details to the police and let them persue this.This behaviour is just not acceptable.We have precious little for the kids to do on this island. Don't let some little retard spoil it for all the others.

It will also give our fine law enforcement agents something to do!

I doubt that the idiot responsible for this would know all the letters of the alphabet. I am serious about contacting the police if you have suspicions. It is up to them to follow up any leads and interview suspects.
If so many people have named this character they would be justified in interviewing him.
The police are here to deal with these matters. Vandalism is a crime.

The worrying thing is these kids are hanging around with knives. I heard antoher teenager was han ging around with a litchen knife he found. But I think they're pretty bored hanging aroung on Lamma at that age and possibly not a huge amount of pocket money to go anywhere (HK eg)

I understand that you think I should go to the police about this, but it seems so out of character for this lad. When I spoke with him, I suggested that he try to find the culprit, other wise he would be continued to be blamed. Perhaps with the Sword of Damocles hanging over him he might be inspired to become a sleuth and find the responsible party. And no jokes please about him doing the slashing with the afore mentioned ‘Sword of Damocles’.

Whether this lad is guilty or not is up to the police to decide. The incident needs to be reported immediately so our idle police force can spring in to action and make their own enquiries.
No one goes vandalising on their own so there must be other kids who know exactly who the culprit is.

I know they have had a busy week clamping down on all the illegal firework displays! but vandalism and kids with knives are serious issues that need to be dealt with.

We could test his innocence by tying him up and throwing him in the sea. If he floats he's a vandal or something like that.
Also do you think he did the slashing with that sword of damocles?

Eitherway, I will gladly report this to the Police once I havce seen the damage first-hand. I can't remember vandalisaing a playground when I was a a boy. He (or she) needs to be told off. Who ever your suspect it is knows about this anyway. I'm sure The Police interview would scare the shit out of him (or her) as long as it wasn't Sting weilding a sword of damocles!

I'll say it again. Vandalism is a crime. the police need to do something about it. It is not a one-off incident, the old playground was also vandalised.
It is not up to individual parents to establish guilt or investigate crimes, we have professionals to do that.
If you don't want to go to the police because you know one of the suspects surely you are hindering the investigation and therefore making the situation worse.
