Sad news today:

Ronnie Norton passed away in Queen Mary Hospital today, Thu, Feb 23.
See the announcement from his family below.

I'm looking for short messages, stories, photos, any good, positive memories of Ronnie by people who knew him well, for publication in the daily community blog on the home page. Please email me.

Correction:
I've been misinformed before. The wake next week Saturday will be in Spicy Island, of course.

Just received from Ronnie's family, via one of his closest friends:
Quote:
Ronnie Norton, dearly beloved son of Pamela and brother to Sharon, Tanya and Ashley died Thursday 23rd Feb after a very short and sudden illness in Hong Kong. He will be greatly missed by his family, his dog Snapper, numerous friends, colleagues and shareholders of Bacardi Ltd. May he rest in peace with a Bacardi and Coke in hand. All friends are invited to attend a wake at Spicy Island, Lamma Island on Saturday 4th March from 4pm to celebrate his life. Only happy faces please.

A most tasteful and dignified farewell to dear Ronnie, complemented by some excellent photos by Bob Davis. Congratulations to Amar Singh and Spicy Island for hosting this special farewell to a favourite patron. Ditto to Lamma-gung!

Thanks to Bob for the photos, Ronnie's twin sister Shari and her husband Phil for the eulogy and to Frank for the text of the song "The Wild Colonial Boy". Click below for:

Wonderful photos of Ronnie Norton's ashes been scattered around Lamma's waters. Also, not hard to recognise those perennial Lamma favourites, Bob Davis, Frank Murdoch and Ian Watson. Only Chris Corke missing. One question, are Sharee Norton and her husband Phil Leverick also retiring to Lamma now their official duties are complete?

No, unfortunately not.

Shari & Phil would fit in so well into our community. They've made many good new friends during their extended stays here. Maybe someday...
