Friendly, cheerful service (as long as you don't bring in any non-Vegetarian food!), great harbour view...
They have really delicious, outside-crispy, inside-moist, freshly-baked wholewheat baguettes and muffins (3 for the price of 2).
I can rarely walk by without buying a baguette, for that truly South-of-France, mediterranean feeling... Merveilleux!
Great, creative juices and tasty vegetarian sandwiches!
Plus the most incredibly expensive German "Oeko-Eier" (eco eggs) I've ever seen in HK. |

Expensive. Teuer. Ho Gui.
But they offer political correct stuff, from eco soya source to Lamma reclaimation protection. I don't like their breakfast because their sandwich are not really well made. My wife would disagree with me on that.
Freshly made smoothies is simply excellent, even the price is reasonable.

| super-nice guys. I pick up a tofu sandwich everyday. Great for ppl like me who are allergic to dairy products. If they stopped serving their tofu and salad sandwich I would have to pack one myself, and waste precious sleep! |

The friendly & helpful "lovely young lad" (according to La Meravigliosa e Miracolosa Miglione) is obviously also acting as a central depository for things to be exchanged between people.
For example BBChris leaving a book there to loan it to me, or Doggy leaving Funday posters with him for anybody to pick up and distribute!
Did you know that Green Cottage has a Happy Hour from 1-5:30am and afternoon sandwich specials at half price, very convenient for us SOHO-ites! I found out just the other day, when I was enjoying one of their truly delicious Happy Hour berry smoothies, enjoying one of the best sea views on Lamma, resting my camera on their rustic wood-trunk table, pressing the shutter:
You can sit there for a long time, reading the newspapers, magazines (or a book borrowed from BBChris), till the sun sets:
Hmmmm, is this actually the same photo, just "digitally enhanced"? _________________ Click here for new Lamma-zine stories and recent Photos of the Day and Artworks of the Day |

I used to buy my morning sandwich from Green Cottage but he changed the avocado salad to this horrible rice parmesan, pine nuts & salad sandwich. I have requested a few times to include the humble avocado salad but they've refused. However, it forced me to make my own sandwiches in the morning and now I have huge sandwiches with tons of salad & avocado and have saved money from the experience
They are brilliant for other stuff and will order items on request (eventually). Plus they sell organic German eggs |

I really like their wholewheat baguettes, berry smoothies and muffins; the view is just great and the service friendly.
But these eco-eggs (Oeko-Eier) are just amazingly, astoundingly expensive, something like 10 times the price of local eggs!
I couldn't believe it when seeing them the first time, having a good laugh, wondering who'd buy them at such a cost.
Well, we've found out who! Hahahahaha _________________ Click here for new Lamma-zine stories and recent Photos of the Day and Artworks of the Day |

Closed down this week...after Dan, Ron, Ah-Yin & co. moved to the new Green Cottage 26 vis-a-vis the future Mr Kebab (planned to be opened well before Chinese New Year.)
Rumoured to be reopened soon by a former Green Cottage staff as a coffee shop with a new name, offering baked goods. _________________ Click here for new Lamma-zine stories and recent Photos of the Day and Artworks of the Day |

Hello bbchris,
How are the ABC girls these days? We haven't heard from them in the Lamma-zine since that photo feature quite a while back.
Welcome back to this forum which you've helped to start up over 7 years ago!
Your very last posts here were on Feb 15, 2009 and Mar 16, 2008. I hope it won't take another year for your next one?
For a little while there, we've had FOUR Vegetarian places running in Yung Shue Wan:
2 Green Cottages, Bookworm Cafe and the new FaFa House in the former LAWC shop, serving "creative organic food", basically vegetarian snacks and desserts.
Well, back to three vegetarian places now and many more veggie choices in most local restaurants.
I wonder what percentage of Lammaites are full-time or part-time vegetarians? _________________ Click here for new Lamma-zine stories and recent Photos of the Day and Artworks of the Day |
