The standard of service at The Deli Lamma has to be the worst in Hong Kong. We visit approximately once a year on the off chance that things have improved, but no luck. Slow, unhelpful, surly.
Shame because the food is OK.

I agree with your comments about the service, but we've seen MUCH worse service in HK before. But I've only eaten in the Deli-Lamma once so far, in the early afternoon.
But we also didn't like the food at all (dried-out, tasteless);
and it was way overpriced compared to other Lamma restaurants with much better similar food.

But we'll try again soon, giving it another chance, as quite a number of our friends seem to like and recommend it...

my friends and i love the food at deli lamma though its rather expensive. so we would only be there once every few months. tried the bistro once too - again, nice but expensive.

i'd still vote the chicken wings at nam-wah-yuen the best!

Yes, their service is not really good and the food is a bit expensive. But their open air tables with the beautiful seaview is unbeatable. In fact I quite like their DIY type of service. At least I can have peace of mind, and really sit back and have a lazy afternoon. I love their Tiramisu, it's nothing like others!

My rating for them would be somewhere between Good and Ok laaa, but definitely not sucks!

Just visited them this evening with my wife. Their service has been... vastly improved. Great music right from the juke box, and the new waitress there always wear a big sunshine smile. The atmosphere was great, tables filled with eager drinkers and couples enjoying their seaside romantic evening.

Have they been reading our forum? I certainly hope so. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Webdog revised rating: Goood!

So many people voted against Deli-Lamma but yet it's still one of the most popular restaurants on Lamma. I can't figure out .....I would vote a GOOOD now but since I voted OK LAAA before, it can't be changed anymore.

As mentioned above, I've given Deli Lamma another chance after my initially pretty bad experience.

We had our first official My Lamma moderator meeting there and a few of us, incl. webdog, stayed behind for dinner.

And it was a really great dinner! Sangria by the jug, fantastic Indian dishes and DEFINITELY the best Tiramisu on the island!
In fact, I've already been back there a few days later, just for an afternoon Tiramisu! But you need 2-3 people to share, as their portion is HUMUNGUOUS!

Jocelyn, the new waitress is just a real sunshine girl, always beaming happily and naturally! She's an acquaintance of Lamma-Poh, so she's trying to lure us into the Deli whenever we pass by and she sees us... Very marketing-savvy girl...

The Deli Lamma has to be congratulated for headhunting her away from the ferry kiosk where she was working in before!

If Ah-Can in Tropicana is the Happiest Man on Lamma (according to Norseman), Jocelyn must be the Happiest Woman on Lamma!
She's such a sharp contrast to the other, stern-faced (but also capable and not unfriendly) waitress.

Very, very expensive for dinner, but the overall experience has to be rated "Excellent!"

Awful food. Tried it again recently after an absence of almosty 3 years, and I have to say nothing has changed.

Good happy hour though, and a nice spot to watch the sun go down. Then get up and go and eat somewhere else.

Don't risk it and stay, just get up and go!!

Friendly staff but food a bit of a disappointment better than the Bistro though.

Free wine tasting on Saturday, Feb 28. This place is going upmarket, it seems, but the prices are remaining reasonable...

The food has improved so dramatically in the last few months that I'd consider it as a strong contender for best non-Chinese food in Yung Shue Wan nowadays.

The service these days is good, especially if its from that really fit Indonesian woman with the huge smile. Very Happy Sometimes she seems to disappear into the kitchen and do the cooking as well and then the food is GREAT. The prices are getting similar to the Captain's Bar of the Mandarin Oriental, which is cheeky if you ask me.

Did you mean Josie, the "Sunshine Girl" as Lamma-Por and I have dubbed her? Even her hubby is using this nickname now occasionally. Yes, her cooking is as great as her service! See below, bottom, middle.

The photo below was taken by Mr DickStock at Josie's farewell party the other night. She's moving with her hubby Tony to New Zealand and hopes to start a family there, she said.

Mr DickStock was not sure about all the names in this picture. Who can help?
So far we've got Renée, Rose, Sondhi (spelling?) and Josie. The other two look very familiar as well...

By the way, Lani is also leaving end of this month. Exodus in the Deli Lamma? These two ladies will be missed by many Lammaites.

The second from right, at back, with hoop earring, is another Josie.

It might help if you said which was which.

The fit one is Barry, then there's Trevor to the left, Simon on his back and the notorious Benji laying between his legs.

Is it you?
But don't ever let her hubby, "Tony the Italian Stallion" find out! He might chase Rollo ("The Nutless Wonder") after you.

Showing this picture to one of the ladies one hour ago, she wants to see more pictures! Anybody got more pictures from Sunshine Girl's farewell party last Tuesday night?
