There's a notice outside the "Beer Garden" (Sitting-Out Area opposite the Island bar) that it'll be closed from 2 days ago till end of the year for "repair works".
The Island Bar and their patrons are obviously pretty unhappy about the length and timing of these works wondering why they're even necessary in this pretty area with several trees and covered in orange-blooming bushes. Best rest area anywhere on Main Street - why "repair" it for a full 3.5 months?
Anybody knows more about what's going on? Were these public works gazetted at the noticeboard at all? I'm trying to get a works plan from the authorities. _________________ Click here for new Lamma-zine stories and recent Photos of the Day and Artworks of the Day |

| Similarly, the barbecue area at HSY has been closed, in peak BBQ season. No work seems to have been done since they demolished the old pits some weeks ago. |

| Politics? This place was built about 12 years ago by the now defunct Regional Council . It's designed along the lines of their old logo, so maybe that's why it's being scrapped. On the other hand, more likely a revenue earning scheme for the locals. |
