If anyone happened to pass behind the opera house, you may have been treated to the sight of one or more cocks hanging out the window urinating out onto the football pitch. The great volume of piss had streamed into the playground. Nice, yeah? Football teams use the "change rooms" for the same purpose, and a bit of cottaging too, I reckon.
So kindly fuck off all you who turn the children's playground, shit enough as it is already, into a cesspit.
Cheers!
*Further to this ( as I have received a pm in defence of opera singers), there WERE portable toilets available 15 metres from where the pools of urine gathered.

It's quite insane to have built a playground and football pitch, which is used for big events like this opera several times a year, and NO PUBLIC TOILETS. I can't imagine the design approval process. Since the original construction, they've added a huge fence, spotlights that could illuminate low-orbit satellites, but no toilet. I note that Yu Lai Fan had this on her "to do" list last election, but she's been in power for six or more years and nothing has been done. The children call the "dressing shed" the toilet, because that's what it is in practice.
This is one of those WTF things that I can't understand about this place. Surely the construction lobby would love to build one, they got $800000 for pouring a slab for the temporary chopper landing site, after they built the fence making the football pitch unsafe for landings. This would actually be useful, in preventing cholera, for instance. |

There is a very effective solution to this sort of problem ... lay a long strip of plastic film on the ground just underneath the stream target area, top that with a strip of aluminum foil, then wait to connect it to the mains power. If the offenders manage to touch something grounded at the same time, the cure is almost instantaneous
Better be ready to cut the power quickly in case innocent bystanders wander by

Our very active Chinese forums have made similar observations about the mess outside the opera arena during the performances. Translated by the Official Court Translator and Official Court Moderator of all Chinese Forums, Samson:
| Nicole Kam wrote: | As my flat overlooks the backstage area, I have seen and would like to talk about the Troupe littering!
A couple of days ago, I saw some orange and banana peels and some used cotton balls being dumped on the back of the stage. One of my family members told me she saw one of the actors removing his make-up and tossing tissue paper out the window. I thought to myself: they can’t be true – people face a $1,500 fine for littering these days, and surely, no one litters in this day and age. I was hanging out my laundry on the following evening, and I saw it with my own eyes – one of the actors removing his make-up, throwing out the tissue paper out. There was already some orange peel on the floor and a puddle of water…
I mean, we have workers to clean the football pitch everyday – but I hope that the Troupe will stop littering, as it is quite unhygienic. |
But if you thought the opera arena was messy before, have a look at how it looked like when they were taking it all down in just a few days. _________________ Click here for new Lamma-zine stories and recent Photos of the Day and Artworks of the Day |

Maybe we can arrange to have a wheely-bin placed outside that infamous window next year? |
