Please deposit unsoiled outgrown baby wear in the white boxes with Nick the Book.

The boxes shall be collected every night, clothing washed, sorted and delivered weekly.

Thank you.

where are they going to?
Who is delivering them and how?
Can I help?

I've got 'several' airline blankets if they would help, but then again so has every in-bound flight. Its hard to know what best to do seeing as I did nothing for the Bam earthquake (Iran) on the same day last year... Did nothing for either 11/9 or Bali... even less for the starving and dieing in Darfur, zip for Band Aid 20 (at least I brought the single the first time round), and zero for Iraq.

If this had only affected India, Sri Lanka and the Andamans, no-body would have cared. But one or two big investments in a global playground....? Nice to hear life has already returned to normal for the bar girls and oblivious tourists whilst we collect un-soiled baby clothes and $s. Can't each affected country have their own fund?

Happy New Year eitherway.

Specifying and labeling the contents of the packages makes distribrution more efficient for the recipients.

Baby clothes:

.They can be densley packed
.The very young and very old probably need most help right now
.The child victims parents are probably mostly concerned about their children
.There are lots of babies growing out of clothes on Lamma
.My wife and I had a baby boy on Wednesday

Sri Lanka:

.Our helper is Singalese
.She can help label the packages
.Contacts are there to assist in distribution
.The displaced are living in the rain
.Air Lanka [ thanks to Susanna L. ] have offered to assist in shipping

Air Lanka:

. I shall have to get back to you on the specifics of the delivery
.rest assured they'll reach Sri Lanka

Help:

.Judging by todays amazing response, both boxes are full and some, yes.
.Please pm me with your contact details?

Thank you to every one that donated today. The boxes shall be on the corner again tomorrow, please tell your friends.

Does anybody have any new, i.e. flat packed, cardboard boxes?

Please drop them off with Nick the Book if you don't need them?

Thank you..

Try asking Ingmar, as he works for Links relocations. He must be able to get his hands on some good boxes easily enough.

Congrats sbd2 to you and the missus on the new arrival!

Cheers Frazer- Links is actually a client of mine but I am more than willing to get some boxes for you. Gavin, give me a call and tell me how many you need and what size.
If you look on page 2 of the City section of the SCMP today you'll see that Links is also spearheading a fund alongside the Round Table of Hong Kong to ship goods to the affected areas.

You make a very valid point Insomniac but are you meaning to imply that not giving to any of the causes makes you right and everyone else wrong? It has to start somewhere. Send your blankets and cash to Bam and Sudan and your sun lounger to Aceh and then you might get some sleep, blah blah blah.

My apologies Ingmar, I knew you were connected somehow!

Gavin, all well here in the nether regions of the globe. Glad to hear Geng et al are fine as myself and Dave Green from the Bastards were down in Khao lak a month ago for the opening of Dan and Geng's excellent new restaurant.

Keep up the good work, wish I could make it to the gig on Saturday!

Someone should weave blankets out of Nick's beard.
