The LegCo election campaigns are getting into high gear now.
Lammadonna's DAB party has been putting their posters on every free surface in the village. There's hardly any house along Main and Back Street that doesn't have SEVERAL posters stuck to every front and side wall. Rolling Eyes

It's the same kind of wasteful overkill like the last District Council elections when hundreds of Lammadonna posters were smiling at us from every wall, rumoured to cause some people to experience "Big Sister Is Watching You!" nightmares... Shocked

It's funny as she's the one who told me that nobody ever got fined for putting up posters on Lamma. Should we follow the DAB's example and stick our posters EVERYWHERE? How about sticking a Lamma-zine poster right beside or below (not on top, that would be tooooo naughty) each of the DAB posters? Wink

Samson, get busy checking the hand-written numbers on all posters! We know you like to! Most numbers seem to be in the 2,000s, but I've even seen numbers in the 4,000s! What's the highest number anyone can find?

Could we have a contest for the most creative defacement of a political poster on Main St? Our good citizens who put up fliers have them unceremoniously ripped down by the likes of Lammadonna's goons---- how about a little payback?

I've only seen a few posters and banners for the DAB, have the other candidates abandoned us? Should we have another episode of Survivor - Lamma? Wink

How about the other candidates/parties? The Liberal Party and Democratic Party have been distributing leaflets and flyers at the Central pier (by the way, DP folks, if you want my vote, please try to not block the exit next time. Twisted Evil ) while I also received my first LegCo election junk-snail-mail yesterday.

Someone I know voted for the other candidate in the DC election last year simply because of the Lammadonna posters stuck on the front wall of his house. Wonder if anyone else will use the same method of choosing his/her candidate in LegCo election! Laughing

I can feel it now... excitement and adrenalin rushing through my blood stream as we speak! jump

Let me guess. Putting up political posters is exempt from fines if they are numbered and from an official party.

I doubt it. I think they have to be on officially-sanctioned areas, or if on private property, with the permission of the owner. You see the notices from the DLO around the pier saying an area is designated for election posters for instance. The numbers are because they have to account for how much money was spent on campaigning.

If posters are put up elsewhere, you should be able to complain to some department (can't think offhand which).

I wonder if the Chinese restaurants will agree to put up DP posters. Sad

The manager of the Lung Wah doesn't like Lammadonna, he had one of Alex's posters up for the DC elections.

There's already a DAB banner on the side of Sampan.

By the way, I was star-strucked last night on the 9:30pm ferry - Lammadonna was on board in a pink business suite! Obviously returning from a day of meetings in HK. A very obedient ferry rider, only taking up one seat and didn't get up until the ferry was completely berthed. She didn't duck downstairs for a big fat one neither... Laughing

Yes, she likes pink a lot. Several photos I shot of her on different days show her in pink outfits.
And she's a good friend of Pinky and part of the local, growing, (in)famous Pinkyism cult, I believe.

But nothing has been seen or heard from Pinky in quite a while now. Is she hiding after her recent "escape" from the "loony bin" (as she called it)???

Ah, a conspiracy theory!

There may be something to it. On the ferry the other day I saw Lammadonna in a very stylish pink mini dress a la Jackie Kennedy, 1963. In fact, I think it was the same shade of pink as worn by Jackie on the day that JFK was shot in Dallas.

Coincidence? You decide.

Was it the same shade of pink as your hair?

How do YOU fit into this conspiracy? We've had our suspicions for a very long time already... Sometimes you sound too good to be true. suspicious

I've been blessed today!!!

I shook the hand of a real-life LegCo candidate today!

A jolt of lightning went through my body when touching him and now I have this irresistible urge to vote for List 7, DAB! Go, DAB, go! DAB, DAB, hurray!!!
If I'd only be a registered voter and allowed to vote...

Lammadonna took her DAB LegCo candidates and a swarm of volunteers through the village this afternoon, a sea of gold and red, sashes, flags, banners, flowing through Main and Back Street, greeting every shop and restaurant owner, shaking hands, kissing babies, and smiling, smiling till their jaws hurt... I was sitting innocently in Tropicana having a late lunch when the swarm descended upon us, some of them even entering the place.

I even got an English (!) leaflet from the sashayed candidate who blessed me, Mr Leung. It said "20,000 copies printed". The Chinese leaflet said that 70,000 were printed. The DAB caravan made it all the way to Sha Po Village, turned around, rushing to catch the boat out of here to the next meet-the-voters opportunity...

The leaflet makes fascinating reading. It sounds so hilarious & satirical, but I suspect that they actually intended it to be serious:
- Point 1 of the Election Platform: "Advance Democracy; Listen to the People"
- "Title: Stability to Advace Democracy, Harmony to Build Tomorrow"
- "Key Roles of the DAB: ...,Champion of Democracy and Harmony..."
- Quote: "Fueled by our love for China and the Hong Kong SAR, our quest for democracy, our unified spirit and resolve, and our commitment to build Hong Kong, we will press ahead..."

Did they just copy all of this from the Democratic Party leaflet?

They don't even get off to a good start with their name. "The Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong" already sounds like a Monty Python sketch.

I got one, personally addressed, in the post from the Liberals, with nice photos of Selina and Kenneth. This must be the only electorate where expats are more than a rounding error.

Liberals wrote:

Quite inspiring, but unfortunately their record isn't.

That's the suit I'm talking about Alan. Not that I'm implying that Pinky had anything to do with the Kennedy assassination, but does anyone know what she was doing on November 22nd 1963?

By the way Lamma-Gung, I think you'll find that my hair is hot-candy-floss pink, whereas Lammadonna's suit was more pastel pink. (Men!)

At least they bothered with priniting the 2 lines for the expats... whereas "Gai Gung" (街工 and no mention of their English name at all) posted 4 pages of meaningless and badly laid out mish-mesh in Chinese. Wink

Any mention of cleaning up HK's air in their manifesto? According to "The Back Page" in the Sunday Post mag, featuring a certain L-G, CLP's sulphur-dioxide emmissions almost doubled last year , while nitrogen-oxide output surged 60%. I don't suppose HKE are any greener.
