|
|
It's so hard to find good desserts & sweets in YSW.
Now there's new hope!
This cheery, colourful place has replaced Golding's bath shop (remember their "artistic" toilet seats with seashells and barbed wire embedded in plexiglass?)
Initially, Emily's was all about several (expensive) top-class imported brands of ice-creams with cute names, but they've been adding new reasonably-priced drinks, desserts and sweets recently.
We tried the brand-new Turkish apple tea a few days ago, which I've never seen anywhere else in HK.
It's served in special Turkish glass shooters and evoked very sweet and tangy memories of a wonderful vacation in Istanbul.
Just $8 for about 4+ cups!
The very friendly & cheerful Emily is serving other Oriental fruit teas as well, but the apple tea is the most popular in Turkey. It's popularly served freely to put tourists in a happy mood while trying to sell them thousand dollar (US!) rugs...
We'll have to try the new coffee and dessert options next time... _________________ Click here for new Lamma-zine stories and recent Photos of the Day and Artworks of the Day |

Great, it's always good to see shops adjusting their sales strategy to meet the customer taste. I was a bit put-off by them calling themselves Ice Cream Parlour but selling Dryers (should be Dreyers)... And anyone but Italians dare to open ice-parlour???? Well, I will definitely pay a visit for their Turkish tea and deserts. Sounds more interesting than Dryers.

Dreyers. The ice cream is Dreyers. Dryers are what Marcus needs fixed. _________________ Beware the fury of a patient man |

Thanks for the reminder. This has got to be done before Christmas... has anyone got any leads on who can fix a Drier?
As for the ice-cream, cookies and cream or rocky road.

Poll Question:
Emily drew this GREAT picture of me, but she's reluctant to put it up on the wall, because "a lot of kids come in here".
Do you think THIS CARD is Indecent? Or in ANY way unsuitable for the wall of a family ice cream parlour?

A truly shocking picture!
This is not only unfit for an ice-cream parlour, but also unfit for Lamma.com.hk! Children might come here as we're welcoming everyone!
This lewd picture (of you, not the girl!) needs to be censored immediately!
Now where did I put these black bars for censoring? I seem to have run out...
P.S. I still have the swear word list you were so eager about.
A photocopy is yours for a drink... _________________ Click here for new Lamma-zine stories and recent Photos of the Day and Artworks of the Day |

Wow, pretty good caricature of Mr. DickStock!
He looks like a really smart egghead!
But how did the clothes Dryer end up in this picture again, from earlier in this topic?
Or is Mr. DickStock thinking of selling fake Dreyer's ice-cream, spelling it Dryer's, trying to avoid copyright infringement?
I'm confused now (but then, nothing new there) _________________ Click here for new Lamma-zine stories and recent Photos of the Day and Artworks of the Day |

New name card for Emily, designed for free by Lamma-Gung (a happy, frequent customer), replacing her former, hand-written name card; incl. a website shortcut to this topic:

Submitted by Emily:
new Lamma T-shirts ($88 only, pick one up at the Lamma Fun Day or from her shop);
and XTConICE Gelato, the latest designer ice-cream to be added to all her other premium brands: Häagen-Dazs, Mövenpick, Dreyer's, TCBY, Nestlé, Fruitfull,...
Testing the XTC chocolate and almond flavours myself, the taste is really incredibly yummy, even better than Mövenpick I have to admit grudgingly. I'd go for the family packs if I could afford them... My usual $2 choco ice sherbet stick will never taste good enough again...
If you see a pretty Chinese lady on Main Street wearing a "lamma republic" T-shirt saying "Where we kiss on Main Street" (bottom right in the picture above), that's Lamma-Por... _________________ Click here for new Lamma-zine stories and recent Photos of the Day and Artworks of the Day |

Submitted by Emily, two X'mas promotions to raise funds for Unicef, her favourite charity.
More shops & restaurants could be doing similar fund-raising activities!
The first ad is introducing her new Broadband-connected PC for customers.
It's not another Cybercafe, but the first Cyber ice-cream shop.in HK, as far as I know. Is it the only one?
People seem to be divided along cultural lines about the 2nd ad featuring "MOM".
Westerners mostly like it (look at the stamp closely) and Chinese generally don't.
Interesting...
