Nice find! Especially like the turtles swimming in. Labeling "today" is simply too confusing.

Article Translation:

Did anybody find some other interesting spots on this map, items that don't exist anymore or new ones not there yet in 1965?
What are some more of the big and small changes in the last 47 years?

The Chinese name of Mt. Stenhouse was "Lamma Mountain" in the map.
I guest its called "Shan Tei Tong" or "Yam Shan" today?

Interesting

I have to admit though, I did initially think that there would be photographs from Bob when I clicked on the link, but then realised Bob's not that old LOL Apologies.

Am waiting for a Lamma Island photograph from the 'early years' :-) I know who has the best photo's too. .....

There are loads of old Lamma photos on this website, from numerous photographers, way back to more than 50 years ago. There have been quite a few little exhibitions in YSW of these photos over the years at traditional events and in the Primary School.

Bob Davis has a few really nice ones, but he's lived here "only" for 20+ years, I believe? So for really old ones you have to ask the indigenous residents growing up here, for example Chairman Chan who's been showing some ancient YSW photos on TVB again a few days ago.

That Lamma tourist guide book above has quite a number of photos from the 60s, but you can't take it out of the library as it's pretty fragile and rare.

We're working on writing captions on a big collection of Lamma photos from the 60s and 70s I borrowed from an indigenous Village Rep, scanning them. They are mostly back from his young days when some local village boys were big into Kung fu, even acting in movies, looking like Bruce Lee lookalikes pushing their tractors tilling the fields of almost all rural North Lamma, attending the Tin Hau Festival, going out fishing, getting married, etc.

More historic Lamma photos are always welcome.
