SCMP's report is below, and there's 5 chinese newspaper coverage.

More than 200 Lamma Island residents and environmentalists staged a protest yesterday against developers who want to build luxury flats and a marina on a 26-hectare site.

Agile Property Holdings and King Wong Development, which have jointly proposed the HK$10 billion complex, will meet the Town Planning Board on Friday to see if what is now a conservation area can be rezoned for development.

Toddlers and teenagers wore hats depicting the three endangered marine species, Romer's tree frog, the green turtle and the finless porpoise, that would be threatened should developers move into southern Lamma.

Dr Laura Ruggeri, the chairwoman of Living Lamma, which led the rally, said: "Most of us today are Lamma residents, and all the kids are either born or raised in Lamma. It's a real community effort."

Joni Mitchell's song from 1970, Big Yellow Taxi, a famous cry against commercial projects that destroy the environment, was played repeatedly as protesters danced.

A survey by the Eco-Education and Resources Centre and Green Power published this month found that the slightest development, bringing only light pollution, would harm marine life in southern Lamma. Green Sense, the Lantau Buffalo Association and the Hong Kong Green Party also took part in the protest.

The project, Baroque on Lamma, would provide about 850 flats and 500 yacht berths. A spokeswoman said earlier it would be a showcase of how development can co-exist with the natural environment.
