We had a beautiful tree in front of our house, and some people came and started cutting the tree branches. Now the place looks ugly and desolate. They also cut two of the papaya trees, only one still standing. What can I do to stop whomever is doing that from cutting all the trees and bringing the big tree in the image on the right (now leafless and flowerless) down? Where can I complaint? What can I do about this?

Honestly, if even on Lamma they don't leave trees untouched, what's the point of staying and living here at all? I am so angry how trees are found so unimportant and being cut everywhere. It's so ugly to have no trees around.

Also, is there a group active that takes action to preserve trees on Lamma? A lot of trees have been cut in the past months T__T It's just so sad.

That triangle is govt land, so no one is supposed to cut them except govt.

A friend living nearby suspects it was the "Yan Yan" family.

If the cutters aren't govt workers you can call the police; though I don't know how seriously they will take it.
They're not enthusiastic about getting involved.
Lands Dept is supposed to look after it, but they act much too slowly to be effective.

You could send a complaint to 1823: http://www.1823.gov.hk/eng/
Include photos, especially if you have some of those doing the cutting.

Thanks so much, I will give it a try and update on the progress.

The people who cut the trees, did so in the night. So one morning we woke and the trees were already cut.

So, definitely unofficial and illegal.
If someone is cutting a tree on govt land at night, call the police.
