Hi there,

What's your ranking of the best budget places to eat on Lamma? Both western (if any) and Chinese? Any reccomedations appreciated;)
Cheers-Monika

Really depends on your budget. If you want wanton, noodles, and tasty rice boxes they are much cheaper. Seafood and imported Western quality food is more expensive. Fortunately you have a whole range of eateries on this fair isle that address all different tastes and styles. It's great.

So just check out one at a time :-) If you have only just moved here, It will take a while, but it's fun.

Not super low budget, but Best Kebab has some good value meals, especially for two or three people.
Also they don't mind if you bring your own drinks.

Man Kee for cheap breakfast. The shop opposite Tropicana occasionally sells sticky rice for $18. Stuffs me for half a day. Chinese restaurants usually give you more weight per buck but it's well worth to check out all of them. Each has their own budget meal.

Cheap Eats in YSW?

A nice variety of buns with fillings and burgers from the bakeries on Back Street or Main Street.
Set breakfast and lunch in Man Kee or Ngau Kee (Mr Ma & Restaurant)
Burgers in Best Kebab
Curry set lunch in Beer Garden
Huge Full Breakfast (British-style) in Jing Jing
...

Add your own favourites for budget or great value places to eat!

Anything in South Lamma for small budget? Only LoSo Kitchen springs to my mind...

I like the original little Thai place now on your right as you walk up back street. Authentic and fairly priced.

One more Cheap Eat in YSW: the English-style Big Breakfast in the reopened Ngau Kee Dai Pai Dong.

I've had it yesterday and it's really great value - $40 including coffee/tea - but not as huge as some of the other Big Breakfasts out there in YSW which serve two people easily.
The sausage is a simple wiener, not the deliciously succulent Cumberland (?) sausage in Jing Jing and the Waterfront.

One more place to the list! - Just got 6 fried dumplings with pork and vegetables for 15$, I love them for both breakfast and dinner, good with sweet chilli sauce and light soya.
Place: Chinese restaurant next to Pet Charity shop, its the one with tables and plastic chairs outside.

I will vote for the restaurant at the same location, thirty something with Gaifan and a drink

it is even cheaper than most local dining place in Hong Kong
