Bimberson thought it meant I was getting something on the side. That only happens late at night in the Delli Lamma.

I am sure the French Ambassador to Finland appreciates the personal service he gets from his own chef, but what was the point again?

Seen in the Los Angeles Times on Feb 6, in an article titled, "A world tour of bookstore cafes"

"For one more cultural upheaval, try Bookworm, in the village of Yung Shue Wan on Lamma Island. A short ferry ride from Hong Kong Island, the excursion is a trip in several senses, as central Hong Kong's "Blade Runner"-meets-Wall Street vibe is replaced by the ideal stage set for a Cantonese "Tales of the City." Amble up the pier (past the "All you need is love" graffiti), and down the main street. Bookworm is on your right.

"Inside this tiny cafe, lime-green tables and "Pride Destroys Everything" signs are set off against a peculiar offering of used books, including a vast selection of Spanish-language guides to Greek isles. The menu is equally esoteric: Try shepherdess pie, "Buddhist-friendly" pizzas and "Hello organic cakes!!" Are they offering such cakes, or greeting them? Who knows. But count on Bookworm for erratic hours, friendly staff and music nights."

Pretty good description, IMHO. What do you think?

They didn't mention their outdoors "Nite Café & Wine Bar".
As this is only open and active well beyond my usual bedtime, can somebody tell us more about it. Is it a fun place? Is it quite different from the other bars?

The Night "Cafe" is from what I can see two tables opposite the cafe - we've drunk wine there a few times and its intimate setting is really nice. They have an excellent set of wines that can also be purchased at the organic store.

I believe this is the Chateau Lamma guy (sorry! forgotten his name) who is currently situated just past Yan Yan Store. He does have very nice wines, and not all expensive. I'd be happy if he moved opp the Bookworm.

Anyone eaten at the Bookworm recently? Recommended?

Yes. We ate there last night. Generally pretty good and we'll be back (for some reason hadn't been there for ages). Only one minor complaint - the wrong cheese (cheddar) on the lasagne.

Congrats to Kennex for another nice story in a local Chin. magazine.

We ate at the Bookworm for the first time in years last week and it was absolutely shite, a shadow of its former self. The menu has contracted to just a handful of very typical veggie dishes but even they aren't done well judging by our experience. The chef was a lad who looked like he was skiving off school. The lasagne was luke-warmed in a microwave, the side salad was crap, the main salad was composed almost entirely of lettuce. No sign of beetroot and other goodies as in days of old. We won't be going back.
