Latest glass news:

EPD will set up a real, full time glass collection on Lamma from March, after being forced to make good on their slogans.

There will be glass bins by the kaido pier, and also at major rubbish collection sites.
Yu Lai Fan vetoed any glass bins in Main Street, even at the bins opposite the public toilets. Because glass is so much more obnoxious than other garbage.

Also, EPD said, if you just set out glass beside the bins at any other rubbish collection point FEHD staff will keep it separate.

For now, you can take glass to the waste transfer station on the reclamation any day, they have a glass bin there, just inside the gate, so go before 6pm when they close.

Currently, all collected glass is taken to a factory near Tuen Mun where it's crushed and made into paving material.

Finally, EPD has put out permanent glass collection bins.

There should be several around the village, at major rubbish collection points. Though Yu Lai Fan opposed having any in Main Street.

Next year though she will probably list it on her report of achievements, along with making the sun rise every day.

Not a wonderful design though. You have to drop one bottle in at a time, and they will likely smash. The glass will all be crushed to make bricks, but it's noisy when you drop them in and it must make handling it dangerous.

Would be better if they were unlocked so you could lower in a bundle at once, no doubt they were fearful of some idiots cutting themselves if they made them openable.

P.S. Attached the official EPD notice

What about other remote, distant, less popular areas, like Luk Chau, Lo So Shing, Yung Shue Ha?

Residents should complain to EPD and copy to 1823 (http://www.1823.gov.hk)

This bilingual leaflet has been handed out at the Pak Kok and YSW ferry piers and other piers, perhaps. So we've got loads of glass recycling bins all over the island now, no excuse anymore not to recycle!

I just tried to find the bins in Sha Po and Ko Long, but couldn't locate them yet, so I carried the entire glass waste of our household of the last 5 weeks - a total of 5 white wine bottles - to the gaido pier where there are 3 Glass waste bins, plus these other recycling bins:

Paper, Plastics, Metals, Electrical Waste.

Probably the closest to your place are those on the right of the main path just before you get to Chow Mansions.

Our glorious leader YLF hates anything promoted by greenies, and especially Living Lamma, so she has banned them from Main Street.
