Dear Friends,

I have received some very nice recommendations from friendly residents in Lamma. They said we should improve our music at the cafe as the current one makes people feel too relax and....sleepy >.~

Please help to recommend some music that are suitable to play for a restaurant at the beach!!!

It would be of great help to us to find those songs if the following information is provided...

Name of Song:
Name of Album:
Name of Artist:

Thank you very much!! :D :D :D

Special Thanks for Catherina and friends. Sorry I have lost the paper of your contacts...If you happen to see this message, please contact me at jchow@concertoinn.com.hk :P

Ah, don't be so nasty Tally. What about something constructive?

ie some suggestions as to what would be popular and conducive to a nice meal or drink in what is a beautiful location?

A guy was interviewed for a job at a local university. After the interview, he was taken for dinner by members of the teaching staff, including two who have definite feelings about music and who had a band and used to play locally. Although the interview was technically over, one of the two casually asked, "So, who is your favorite artist or band?" With no hesitation, the candidate for the job replied, "Enya!"

Music is such a personal thing, and given the handful of spectacular jerks (sorry for that) who grace these forums, it is a lot to ask of us to recommend music. It would be very nice to learn of some new bands, though.

Okay, who is going first?

Probably be a good idea to check with Nick and stock up with a few dozen CDs he recommends.

As for myself, currently I'm listening to
http://worldwidebluegrass.com/listen.html

And the Antarctica station has a nice selection.

Of course. even better would be to get some local artists to do it live.

Hi Friends,

Yes....you still remember we have been playing Kenny G for a looooong looooong time! (I was only 5 that time, believe it or not) >,~

It's been quite a while I did not listen to online music station. That recalls the days when I still use winamp and dreaming about to be a DJ! I will listen to it when I'm home tonight!

Some recommendations are more into pop rock, would you guys like to listen to funky or jazzy musics?

It would be great if there are some local live music too *u*. Ya I heard there are many good musicians here. We have Nina playing Cello here before, any other suggestions? :D :D :D

At a restaurant, I'd much rather listen to something jazzy/funky than pop or rap music. There are a couple places I've been to where I really liked the music. I could listen to it and enjoy it or I could just as easily tune it out and focus on conversation.

Those places were Deli & Wine in TST (by the cultural centre), and Singing Bean at the Macau Tower.

Personally I think Miles Davis is a pretty safe bet.

I heard Francine Roche being played in cafe once and thought it was pretty cute but maybe too strong of a statement.

Definitely NO KENNY G!! Executive order!

I think it's very cool that you're asking the forums, concerto. Thanks!

Dear Fractal,

Thanks much for your suggestions!

I am personally into jazz and funk music too!
Apart from Mile Davis, I like Chick Corea, George Benson and Pat Metheny, and singers like Louis Armstrong and Billie Holiday, and many more!

I am thinking to add some samba collections too as I feel this genre matches the beautiful beach~~

Hopefully I can get the new music done by mid April~

Cheers~ :D

It was definitely Groundhog Day. Passing by the Concerto Inn at 7.34pm yesterday evening I could not believe my ears - despite all the great suggestions, KENNY G was back blasting out his greatest hits AGAIN. Since I don't pass that often, I can only imagine that old Kenny is still being played by staff on a regular basis. Even lunatic asylums quit playing Kenny years ago, it agitated the patients too much

No worries Tally, I have BURNT the Kenny G CDs already!

Now the music is a mix a light jazz, samba, bossa, with a bit of pop....

Later I will prepare another collection for music to be played at night.

Thanks for letting me know!

Thanks - sorry for teasing you so much about it! If only Kenny could be more like Amy Winehouse....
