It is still on the waterfront, and still an eysore. It would bloke the view of Lantau island for children and minders using the playground. You would lose that wonderful sunset and the sea breeze. A police station In YSW ought not to be visible. I would prefer that it be built near the fire station. Above the village.

If they really wanted to be radical, the cops could tunnel into the the hillslope by the reclamation. Just have a periscope peeking out .

The whole reason the reclamation was built at huge expense was to create land for goverment buildings. So if it's not a police station, it will be something else.

New photos from a few days ago, plus maps and artist impressions.
The construction of our new harbourside YSW police station has started. Completion by March 2013, one year from today.

The construction of the Activity Room just besides it (so the police can keep a really close eyes on people having too much fun in there?) has already started as well, probably completed later this year as it'll be open-air.

Well, when I asked our Police Chief and his expat Aberdeen Marine Police boss a few months ago during the public consultation of this new station, they said:

Policebox on Main Street: no change

Hung Shing Yeh police station: returned to the Govt. after the move. They claim to have no plans at all yet what to do with it, or the police guys don';t know them.
But Govt. would accept suggestions from interested parties, including NGOs and other good causes.
It's actually quite cozy in there, but only if your visit in there was voluntary.

Anybody's got a good use for a little, safe hilltop fortress with barbed wire fence and (probably) a cannon tower?
