Just moved into a new house and am fortunate enough to have a bit of a yard. Am thinking of getting some lawn growing from seed.

Does anyone know where I may be able to get top soil as well as grass seeds?

Thanks

I don't know about topsoil. You could ask vv truck drivers. Perhaps prior to covering over some nice agricultural land with rubbish they might be prepared to scrape some up and sell it to you. I'd be worried, though, that it might start a new trend. As for grass seed - bermuda grass seems to be what everyong here plants and the seed is available from the gardening shops that are out just past Western Market on Connaught Road.

I believe Jamaican grass is also a popular choice on lamma. You could try discretely helping yourself to some soil from the old agricultural land between PS Rd and PS Beach (before they build another 100 flats on it).

Carpet grass is a better bet. Sow the seeds thickly for a lush carpet. Available from seed shops near Western market and a few shops in Flower market, Mong Kok.

I'd be wary of helping yourself to 'top soil' as you will be importing any seeds/weeds that grew on the site previously.
