I agree with islandcouple. If you want to make sure you'll deliver in Matilda, stay off the island when it's closer to due date. (Mine was 10 days earlier than expected). I'm not sure how fast a sampan can arrive in wee morning hours. As far as I know, for a medical emergency, a helicopter will transport you, and a police boat is only used if a helicopter can't land. The wait can be quite long, mine was two hours (from dialing 911 until the helicopter finally arrived), and the same with my neighbor too (she said it'd have been faster if she had taken the last ferry.) And because the labor had progressed very rapidly, I was transported to the Eastern Hospital in Chai Wan, the nearest hospital with a helicopter pad. Not Queen Mary, and certainly not the hospital I was booked in. |
