This obvious Links advertorial is clearly described as an advertorial in the introduction of the story. I wrote in the very first sentence:
"This loyal, long-term advertiser of this website has sent me the following Advertorial which I'm happy to publish for them..."
Links has been advertising for years and have helped to keep this website, including these forums, alive, so I have absolutely no scruples in publishing an advertorial for them on request once a year or so. It's clearly denoted as an advertorial. These advertorials are exceedingly rare in my blog, less than one every three months or so, meaning about 1% of stories; and never more than 1 advertorial per year for major, long-term advertisers only. The last Links advertorial was published almost 2 years ago! Advertorials are an acceptable compromise to pay for the increasingly expensive running and daily updating of this site, as long as they're clearly declared at the top of the story, I think.
This Links advertorial is surely of interest to all the people moving out of Lamma in the next 2 months, the main moving season of the year and the main business season for moving companies. Not every story has to be of interest to a MAJORITY of Lammaites, as long as a handful like it, I'm happy. Few people are passionate about poems, paintings or bird photos, but I'll keep publishing them anyway, as they reflect important & beautiful aspects of the Lamma community. If you don't like a story, skip to the next one, there are at least 365 different stories every year in the free Lamma-zine Blog...
Re: the home page:
There have always been only two ads at the top of the home page, never more, never less. There's a new Photo of the Day and a Bird/Animal Photo of the Day now on the left side, pushing the navigation down a bit. Not ideal, I admit, so I might move these two, daily changing pictures to the right side soon, using more of the space on wider monitors nowadays. Would that be acceptable?
There are more ads on the lower left side, but you have to scroll down two screens to see them, so they're not cluttering up the top of the home page and they use only formerly empty space on the page.
