The Island Gym, now behind the Beer Garden, still has a few memberships available. It's now in a rooftop flat and I can warmly recommend it as a long-term member myself. <img src="http://www.compunicate.com/Lamma/Ads/Portal/Portal-Ad-101106.jpg" align=right hspace=8>I haven't been spending as much time in there as I should, but with this hot & muggy weather making hiking & biking quite tough (still recovering from a spot of recent sunburn), I'll be trying to spend some regular time in there. Their aircons are working very well and you can listen to your own music, often having the entire 700sqft gym to yourself during off-peak times. The contact is islandgym@yahoo.com, phone numbers are 5465-1310 (Tom), 6893-9251 (for Sol, leave a message with your contact info, please). All the rest is similar as before, members get keys (there is a $200 key deposit). The fees are the same: $450/month, $400 for 6 months on auto-pay, and $350 for 12 months auto-pay. There is a 10% discount for upfront payments (for 6 and 12 months). |

Yes, I saw that story about outdoor activity being so much healthier for you than indoors. Anybody hiking or biking or jogging or bootcamping or yes, even swimming will surely agree. But in this weather? It's a choice between not exercising outdoors at all or exercising indoors, so I'll use Lamma's pretty decent, low-cost and air-conditioned gym for at least the summer months. |
