On 5 Feb, when I walked pass the Pak Kok Old Village outside 58-60, I just saw an awful scene with the following pictures. Someone was trying to kill three trees by the side of the road. And he was even making a statement saying he has the right to remove them because these trees are obstructing his sea view.

In the statement, it said about the sea view. Damn, does the sea view matter him ? No, definately. If it matters, why would he buy a property with the trees in the front ? If it matters and the trees were grown after he bought the place, why would he not cut them off well before the tree became obstructing. If it really matters, why would he be not knowing the visibility of the harbour is declining year by year ? No matter what he does, the sea view is fading away anyway. So all he says are crap !

And what he has been doing is to torture the trees and makes them die slowly. He is not cutting them. He just removes a ring of the bark. After a long enogh while, he can then be entitled to call the government to send some other people to cut the rotten trees and do the clean up for him. So does the sea view matters, "No" again !!! He rather waits for someone to do the job and free of charge. Pathetic trees killed by a Coward !!!

The police received reports immediately and they are trying to handle this case (as the police already makes another post upon the statement posted by the Murder). But I hope if someone knows a better way to report this case to the proper government department, please let us know.

The person to whom you should report this to depends on the owner of the land on which the trees are located.

Many trees like this are on government land and the Lands Department take care of them.

They should prosecute in clear cases like this where someone is stupid enough to own up. Try Anthony, he will want pictures and the number of a lamp-post at the location so he can identify the land.

The police should also take action in cases like this. Certainly I have a friend who was arrested by police for (legally) clearing a footpath.

However it is a slow process. Peer pressure can do a lot. Who is the person who is doing this?

I'd be surprised if the land and trees actually belonged to those who claim it does.

Aside from that, it's an amazingly lazy and stupid way to remove trees.
when the trees are killed they start to rot and can fall onto the path .

if trees have to be removed, you do it in a safe and controlled way.

At this point we should step back and leave the resolution of this to the neighbours affected and the police and other government departments.

If you want to apply pressure, I suggest contacting the various departments who should be protecting the countryside. Engaging in personal vilification here will achieve nothing except to bring disrepute to the forum.
