Hi, I am moving to Lamma on 13th January.

My cat (Ulysses) will be joining me shortly afterwards.

I've had a search on the forums but kind anything about this, but I apologise if it has already been covered.

Ulysses has what I like to call a tender psychopathic side.

By which I mean he will kill and eat anything that moves. Size doesn't seem to be an issue to him and he's often injuring himself in unseen battles.

I've tried calming him, but I can't. Weirdly, he is the kindest, most social and best natured cat I have ever known around humans - which is probably why I get so many 'gifts'.

So my question is twofold:

1. Will I get into trouble if/when he kills a rare bird?

and

2. When he tries to kill a centipede or such, is he likely to come out the loser and end up killing himself? Can cats take the bites?

Or will he indeed act as a handy poisonous insect repellent?

Other owners of cats must have come across this?

All advice greatly appreciated. It might be best to leave him here (UK), but I'd rather not.

Thanks,

Tom

Bell on collar will help with birds<

Centipedes shouldn;t kill him.

Some snakes and he's a gonner. Bamboo viper , chinese cobra, python, banded krait,

He wears a bell here and it doesn't seem to make any difference. Maybe a cow bell would sort it?

How common are the snakes? Is it likely that he will be innately aware not to mess with them? I kind of thought he would. But the insects, I think he'll go for them. And I don't fancy the Gecko's chances at all.

As long as it won't kill him, he'll learn pretty quickly not to do it again then, I guess.
