See what I've found in a bag of sliced "Premium Sandwich" bread, bought from Maxim's bakery in IFC. I found it only after toasting two slices for breakfast, while putting the plastic bag back into the fridge where it was since I bought it two days ago.

<img src="http://www.compunicate.com/Lamma/34/Maxim-bread-bug-5200.jpg" align=left hspace=10 vspace=4>Anybody know this green-shimmering, house fly-sized, bread-loving bug?
Should I be worried, like for example it possibly laying eggs into the bread which we might have eaten.
If I'll get flies breaking out of my skin all over soon, after eating my innards while I'm still alive, then I'll know for sure...

I wonder how Maxim's bakery staff will react when I'll bring this bag back to them. Potential reactions from their sales staff:

"So what?",
"The bug got in in your own dirty home!",
"Did you put the bug in yourself to get a freebie from us?"

Any ideas on other potential reactions?

Maybe you should stop hanging around in the IFC. Are you a "hoody"?

A hoody is an anorak-wearer, I assume? What would they do in the Mall?

More about hanging out in the Yung Shue Wan Shopping Mall in yesterday's Lamma-zine Blog...

Most of us can't avoid passing through "THE Mall" to or from our way to town...
And I love the cinema in there. Really cheap matinees...

Hoodies are youths, commonly known as "chavs" who wear those hooded sports tops and hang around shopping malls in Britain, causing a nuisance.

Half a bug inside a slice of bread would have worried me much less, as it would have been baked, no live bacteria or other infectious stuff left.

There are tiny bugs and pieces of bugs in all breads anyway, unavoidable part of the grain harvest. There are official guidelines for the permitted number and size of bug parts in bread, cans and other processed foods. With all the mechanical harvesting of grains, vegetables and other edible plants, a lot of insects, spiders and other small bugs make it into our daily food stuffs. They're considered harmless after processing, baking or cooking.

My mother used to work in a food factory, so she'd tell us "amusing" stories about what they or some consumers recently found in their cans and frozen ready-to-eat meals they produced: sometimes animals much larger than bugs...

You don't usually see the bug parts when eating the stuff, so people don't worry about them much. Food for thought...

The word "Chav " comes from the romany ( pikey b'stards ) word "Chavi "or Chavvy ( Not sure of the correct spelling ) meaning child.
Just thought i'd mention it.
