A dead heron (grey heron?) was found at the quarry two days ago. I reported it to the ag and fish, and was pleasantly surprised to get a call from Ms Fung of the environmental health and hygiene dept the next morning. They moved swiftly into action to remove it this morning and promised to inform me of its cause of death....

The white powder used to sprinkle on the bird and 'clean' the area was some kind of lime, apparently not dangerous to birds or animals.

What's the best way to save pics to preserve maximum quality while keeping them at 100k or less? These pics were saved at 72 pixels per inch and about 100k, but when submitted come out much smaller at 39ishk.

Sad for the Heron.

With the photo sizes.

After you tweaked, cropped etc yr pics in whatever software you have, save the file (for example 400kb - depending on camera)

Then go to the thumbnail, & right click "Edit".

Photo will open in "Paint".

Click Save.

Close File.

Go to the original thumbnail - it will now be reduced to about 10-20% of original byte size (40-80kb)
(If you have the thumbnail in a folder it may still show the original byte size - exit the folder, & re-enter - it will now show the reduced byte size)

The quality difference is not really noticeable on most compouter screens

Good luck
