Early July 7th, on the path from YSW to Pak Kok, a neighbor's helper intended to rest a moment on one of the Po Wah Yuen brown benches near the PCCW boxes at the hillcrest. Before sitting, she set her bag of groceries on the bench, at which point a black Chinese cobra beneath the bench reared just behind the slats, its hood flared. The helper grabbed her bag and ran. This is not the first time cobras have been seen in that spot, so anyone pausing to sit should be careful. This snake was reported to be about a meter long.
