Here's a spreadsheet by Stanley Chan, showing almost all Lamma Birds he's seen, heard or photographed so far. This is amazing, the first such comprehensive effort I've seen on Lamma!
(P below means he has a Photo Record).

A more detailed spreadsheet, Latin names and everything, is available from Stanley directly.

Please comment and expand, add on your own sightings and photos and we can make this into a linked master list, directly linking to Guy's and others best photos of these species on this site and elsewhere!

Just got back from PRC..., would've commented earlier but had trouble logging into the site.

Great shot of the Scaly Thrush...., as Zep says a rare visitor.. I have only ever seen 2 in the last 6 years.... one in Ko Long Village about 5 years ago & one at the "rave" house towards Pak Kok about 6 years ago.

The list is great...... and shows we have a lot of previously unrecorded birds on Lamma.
The Black Bulbul, Black-winged Cuckoo Shrike, Collared Scops Owl, Greater Necklaced Laughing Thrush & others are especially interesting.

I am sure others on Lamma have similar treasures they could share.

Need to work out a way so everybody can participate in some sort of database of sighting and photographs.... my attempt with the separate thread for various birds has too many limitations.

Well done Stanley....., if you are interested, you are welcome to come up to my house and see the thrushes and others that are daily visitors. Perhaps also join Zep & others to his regular birding breakfasts... if nothing else, the food is great.

Seems we have another rarity on Lamma... female Orange-gorgeted Flycatcher...
Less than 20 of this species have ever been recorded in Hong Kong

Male Daurian Redstart..
Took a walk over to Sok Kwu Wan... on the way came across numerous Daurian Redstart..., mainly female.
However, this good looking chap was kind enough to pose, and even supplied a reasonable perch...

Many thanks to Guy for showing me his fantastic bird-friendly hideaway this arvo. Here's one of the many visitors to the pond, a male grey-backed thrush:

I wish they were almost as good but there is quite a difference in sharpness, brightness, etc. In mitigation, these were in the late afternoon when the light was fading, and even if the shots are not up to professional standards, it is still nice to experiment with poses and compositions and backgrounds.

Could YOU get good shots?? Hmm, not sure about that. Seriously, yes, of course, it makes a huge difference when you have access to a hide and the birds come and pose for you a few feet away thanks to Guy's hard work.

Well, your shot was good enough to make WILDLIFE OF THE DAY on the home page!

We need some more photographers for this spot, otherwise it'll become almost exclusively reserved for Guy and I'll have to rename it as GUY'S PHOTO OF THE DAY.

Nice one Kevin....especially getting so many in focus.
Have seen several flocks of these around... most notably over at Lo So Shing.
We seem to have an inordinate number of Chinese Bulbuls on Lamma these days.

A shot of the male Fork-tailed Sunbird from the same day as the female shot... although both visit the garden several times a day... will try & get shots in not such glaring sunlight...
