| Post subject: | Green snake |
I saw a snake last night at around midnight on the path up the hill to tai peng. It was not so big, was green on the back, and yellow on the belly side, with a triangular head, and orange cat-eyes. The end of its tail was brown. Not agressive, just moving slowly across the path. Does anybody know anything regarding those green snakes on lamma? Are they venomous (i think so)? How deadly? Any cases of snake bites on lamma? Should i ask the policemen for more info? Thanks. |

Most likely a Bamboo pit viper, Trimeresurus albolabris. venomous, but apparently not usually lethal. Don't bother asking the police, they're not locals and couldn't tell the difference between a pit viper and a garden hose. I'd hope someone at the clinic or ambulance station would know, but I wouldn't bet on it. Google on the scientific name to find out all about them. Some big images at this page. Found one in my bathroom one day... |
