Nice hoopoe, nice white-breasted kingfisher, nice white egret. Yes there are a lot of previous photos, but we are lucky to be surrounded by these fine birds. Keep em coming

Brand-new photos sent in by DenisW.
Is this really a Peregrine Falcon? Denis wasn't sure and these have rarely been spotted on Lamma, I think.

Fantastic shots, DenisW. It's a crested goshawk, resident in HK, though inconspicious most of the time. They do hang out in Tai Peng. The stripy thing it is eating is probably a female koel, although it could be a young coucal - hard to tell from the limited view.

And thanks for the shot of the bulbul, Rambler. Birdsky seems to have put on a bit of weightsky.

Great shots of the goshawk. Yes, looks like a female koel for dinner.

Anna writes:

"This pigeon has been hanging out on my balcony for awhile now - it has one red and one green leg band. I live in Tai Yuen Village, in the area just across from Brother's Laundry.

He seems to be just resting and was not at all startled by my presence or picture taking.

Would you mind putting out a post to see who it belongs to?"

If you have any clues, let us know here or contact me and I'll forward you to Anna.

More photos from Rambler. I've shrunk them - on his request - to make them presentable on a web page:

Nice shots - magpie robin, Chinese bulbul, red-whiskered bulbul and hair-crested drongo. It's usually very hard to see the hair crest on the drongo, but one of the hairs is clearly visible here.

By the way, the other drongo species, the black drongo should be arriving soon for the summer. They don't have the same glossy iridescence as the hair crested and the call is different, like a squeaky balloon.

Saw a grey treepie from my rooftop today, but could not get a clear shot of it.

Small group of 8 Chinese goshawks flying over this morning. They migrate north during this week, sometimes in large numbers. One stopped by in Tai Peng for a while to take a breather and maybe catch a frog or two, which is what I believe they eat. I've seen flocks in the air, usually fairly high, several times over the past years, but this is the first time I've managed to get a photo.

Great picture of the rare blue and white flycatcher. I don't think even the great Guy Miller managed to get a shot of that one.
