Be nicer still if they made smoking and dogs compulsory!

Compulsory?
Wow, there's a most daring and controversial idea! You're welcome in our restaurant ONLY if you're a smoker and bring your dog along!

This might actually take off in a dog-loving place like Lamma where the smoking ban is rarely enforced so far, setting Beer Garden apart from the 20+ restaurants of Yung Shue Wan!
I might mention this daring idea to the Chinese owner when I'll be interviewing him soon, hopefully...

Dory, is this really what you meant?

How's the food?
We've only tried the "Beer Garden Eye Opener" full British breakfast so far, and the Eggs Benedict and it was all pretty good. The full breakfast was bigger than the two of us sharing it could finish!

Little problems in getting all our cutlery and salt, but the service was fine overall and Hung-Kee is the kind of jovial, personable, bilingual host you need in a neighbourhood place like this, as they don't get too many tourist as they're away from Main Street. Even on Easter Monday afternoon the place was far from full, but in the evenings it seems to fill up frequently.

You can rate this place now in the restaurant poll, at the top of this topic.

Owner Hung-Kee and his son Sky seem to be running a very nice and already very successful place, with Amar Singh's son (ex-Spicy Island) in the kitchen preparing the mostly Indian food. As a little favour for an old friend, I've scanned their menu:

Still no improvement. By mistake we went there again on 30Jun Sat.
What ever flavor of curry you order the gravy is same (example Chicken Madras, Mutton Rogan Josh etc). Are they simply cheating the people who (are not of subcontinent origin) frequently dine there by making them drunk thus numbing their taste bud ? !
It is damn easy to bring in a chef from India if they are serious .....!

Made the mistake of eating a take out from the Beer garden on Saturday night - Oh dear - how standards have plummeted! The curries tasted as if they just had 'Curry Powder / Marsala' thrown in - no aroma or real taste to any of them. My son refused to eat the Chicken Makhani ! A first!

Containers half empty (or should it be half full?) and the Channa Marsala simply consisted of chick peas were drowning in bright red oil!

This is the second bad experience this month. Dare say that we will have to seek alternatives and hope that they find a new / replacement chef who knows how to cook Indian food.

Shame - they used to serve quite decent meals.
