I'm curious about this... am hanging out in Lamma for the first time and cannot believe how many people smoke here, in the streets, the bars, etc. I feel I can't get away from cigarette smoke without going halfway up the mountain (where I see cigarette butts thoughtlessly littered on the trail) As a non-smoker whose career relies on lung power (I'm a brass musician), it really saddens me since I was thinking about moving out here... ironically for fresh air... do the residents here not care that they are sullying the otherwise fantastic sea breeze? Anyway... I wonder what's going on and why I see people smoking in, say, the Deli Lamma, every time I go in there. It seems quite sanctioned since they're passing out ash trays. Can't seem to get a peaceful non stinky meal at that place (tried breakfast and dinner). |

I keep wondering if the police doesn't check on this blatant disregard of the anti-smoking laws. It has nothing to do with the police, it's the remit of the tobacco control office; if they don't get a complaint, they can't act. But I don't go to the Deli any more - too many ghosts |
