To open the reviews of the Island Bar, here's a comment from a happy guest: TopDog {L_WROTE}: The Island Bar is my favourite pub on Lamma because it welcomes everybody and even provides water for dogs on request.

If it wasn't for the Isalnd bar I wouldn't have met Jane so top marks from me. oops! Also good for a quick one before the ferry, music, parties and very child friendly. Sounds familiar! No food, but surrounded by over-priced noisey retaurants that look fun. Good local notice board, community info, and hard earned trophies galore. Watch out for the step up to the loo / pool table, a major 'gravity pocket' has taken root. The Lamma 'Time Warp' factor in the singular loo itsself seems to have a hold on the place too, expect long delays at cruicial momments. Cheers. |

What about all the other bars then? Where can we vote for Dan's Place, Diesel's, Tinhead, the Karaoke Bar etc, etc? |

Norseman {L_WROTE}: What about all the other bars then?
Norseman, I thought you're a patient man ("Beware the fury of a patient man")? Our new Bar & Restaurant guide was focusing on the restaurants first, lots of work to get it all up! I just put up the Island Bar yesterday night, on special request from Luciene of the Island Bar. All other bars around YSW will follow soon, even the Karaoke place... But today I have to finish my weekly e-zine, and webdog's busy, too. We have to make a living besides doing all this work for Lamma.com.hk for free, ya know! Norseman, you're most welcome in helping us out, by helping us to get full addresses, tel. numbers and opening hours of your favourite bars - even a photo of their logo and an outside shot will be accepted and posted here for free... |

1,000 apologies Lamma-Gung, the ever patient. How dare you concentrate on other things to the detriment of Lamma.com.hk?! Whose bum is that in the island Bar photo and are they getting commission at the same rate as Samantha Fox (now, not in the 80's of course!)? I know when most bars close as I am usually in them, but as to the exact time, I'm usually at the far reaches of a gravity pocket. |

I love the Standard Charter $20 promotion and especially the poster, wonder if they really get anything from the bank. |

No, they get nothing from Standard Chartered Bank, but it's a nice promotional gimmick to lure more people into the bar on a usually slow Tuesday! It sure works on me sometimes, gathering Standard Chartered bills all week... They're a great and friendly place and have agreed to sponsor our My Lamma Photo Contest with free booze for the winner. They'll also display the winners of the contest on the walls of the bar! Hooray for the Island Bar! |

I dunno, I KNOW they like kids in there, but Goddammit, they aren't really supposed to SERVE them! <img src="http://netvigator.com/~rfjones/IanScotland.jpg" border=1 width=420> Ian Scotland, Six Months Old. |

Yes, Alan, you're right and I knew it was wrong, but I didn't want to point it out, it's a fundraising party... They'll get more than enough people making fun of this very unusual spelling anyway... |

Its probabably because Lucienne is Brazilian, and as EVERYONE knows, Brazilians speak Portugese, not Spanish. Anywho, I'm sure she fells bad enough about this anyway, so lets all not mention it, shall we? |

Yes, I agree! Let's never mention this strange and funny MASSIVE spelling mistake ever again! Never again... and never again! P.S. But it will still be added to my fast-growing collection of silly & funny signs & posters around Lamma, for an upcoming Photo Gallery, hehehehe! Any of YOURS and anybody else's photos will be most welcome to be added! |

Doing a bit of googling about that intriguing word "Undalla", I couldn't find anything, not even in Portuguese dictionaries! Maybe Luciene will have to explain it to us... But I came across the following fascinating facts about Speedy Gonzalez' amazing speed: "It all comes down to mouse farts. Being Mexican, Speedy eats a great deal of Mexican food. Mexican food is made with lots of beans, which cause a lot of flatulence; they are, after all, The Musical Fruit TM. We can therefore conclude that much of his speed is results from extra thrust as the gas jets out of his colon. All that "Andale, andale, arriba, arriba" jazz is just to cover the embarassing noise of his frijole-powered Turbo Boost TM." Don't get too close to the Island Bar late that night, when the Mexican beans will have done their magic, turbo-boosting the Latino Party animals, some of whom will be speeding down Main Street, shouting "Andale, andale, arriba, arriba!" P.S.: I hope this is not too naughty for this forum, or will this message be moved to the Fight Club? I don't think so... |

but I didn't want to point it out, it's a fundraising party... They'll get more than enough people making fun of this very unusual spelling anyway... Pointing out that something is wrong is not the same as making fun of someone. I didn't know (or really care) who made the poster anyway. I forlornly hoped that it could be fixed. I worked on magazines where we published full page glossy ads full of grammar and spelling mistakes because the management thought it would offend the client to be told. |

Alan, Pointing out typos and any mistakes; and making fun of them is both still permitted on Lamma.com.hk! This should remain a fun and not too serious place to visit! Funny teasing, gentle ridiculing and imaginative joking will always be welcome! Hey, without local people to tease, my e-zine would be very short indeed! Of course, you're more than welcome of pointing out typos in my e-zine, AND make fun of them and of myself! If I let bad typos slip through, I deserve to be made fun of... |
