The governemnt has thoughtfully provided a list of venues that are qualified to let you smoke while you have a bath, drink or majong session. http://www.tobaccocontrol.gov.hk/eng/whatnews/whatnews_establishments.html |

The list includes on Lamma only: Diesel's G/F, 51 Main St., Yung Shue Wan, Lamma Island, N.T The Island Society Bar G/F, 6 Yung Shue Wan Main St, Lamma Island So that means everywhere else is non-smoking. Theoretically. |

I wonder was it a deliberate policy to not apply for the "postponement" for the likes of The Deli, or were they just not paying attention? Is it too late to apply? |

I also noticed the other day a new sign on the shelter halfway to Tai Peng saying something like "Smoking is not forbidden in this shelter". |

Well, I just got asked for permission by a smoker before he lit up inside a restaurant. That's the only change I've seen so far as the ban seems to have been completely ignored on Lamma, as expected. Like the long-standing ban on fireworks... |

The Lung Wah is almost smoke-free now. The owner even seems to have given up his pipe. My wife is not shy about demanding people put out their cigarettes, and now with the law on her side it works. |

Ah-Hay without his pipe! What is Lamma coming to! One of the most fascinating local characters without his trademark! He even cut his formerly wild mane and beard short for the Lunar New Year, hard to recognise him nowadays... As a life-long non-smoker I still don't mind smoking much as long as you don't do it close to me while I'm eating... |

Comming to YSW is a bit distressing had to move tables while having dinner again yesterday as the ones who smoke think every one around them should do the same. Not many have the manners to ask if one minds having the horrid smell and fumes blowing at them while they try to enjoy a meal. I think smokers should have a little more concern for the ones who do not smoke and do not want to breath the foul air the smoke gives. They also should put the waste from this foul habit in the bin they seem to think its OK to just stub out on the street or leave horrid buts to smolder in the bin ash trays throwing the empty packs away. Smokers please think about others around you before you light up. |

Just tell the manager. They have to take action now. |

No smoking in the Man Kee at least. The smokers all sit out the back. Nor is smoking allowed in the Banyan Cafe either, for that matter. |

Just wondering if The Gov is planning on banning the Lamma Power Station from smoking too? That's worth a few packets to each of us... |
