Agreed. And the location is perfect for watching the Lamma-ites passing by the main street. Lamma-gung should seriously consider this place as well.

Hmmmm, yes, webdog, you might be right!

Actually, I've NEVER been in this place so far, as I'm not really into watching sports on TV and usually stay far away from so-called sports bars on HK Island and their beer-swilling, trash-talking, rowdy customers of stockbrokers and other lower lifeforms.

But Diesel's seems to be different and it's definitely a great spot for Main St people-watching, with its elevated position!

I should plant myself up there on a sunny weekend with my new digicam and zoom in on the tour groups...
Should get some great mugshots for the My Lamma Photo Contest's People category!

Oh, outdoor BBQ sounds great as well, to go with a cooool beer or cider from the tap!

And they seem to be doing a lot of interssting movie screenings on their giant screen, plus parties and promotions!
If they'd let us know, even send us the poster in digital format, we would post them here on My Lamma to let everyone know!

I've just posted my Diesel's photo above, like for most other restaurants & bars, but promotional materials need to be supplied by the restaurants & bars themselves, so we can post it for them, usually for free!

I think they now have 5 TVs (not sat at the bar) in that small place, but what a superb new Plasma wall screen (just incase you cant quite see one of the other screens). Luckily it was not showing sport when I went in, but music!
Diesels need to sort out that 'butcher's screen' on its front door. Its not even good for its intended purpose.

Yes, very nice brand-new plasma screen, 50 inches at well over $50K...

I was offering them somebody's 2nd-hand 42-inch Sony plasma screen for less than $10K, but they said it was "too small"...

The place looks like a showcase of TV technologies now, from standard tube TV, over projection system to plasma. There's only one wall left now, probably used for an LCD flat-screen soon?

Diesel's seems to have BIG plans, just installing a 2nd (or 3rd?) massively expensive satellite system to show the Rugby Worldcup for something like 20 hours a day, including reruns...

It's not just the TV migrating, rumour has it that the clientele will be switching as well.

Island Bar owners have been seen leaving the premises of Molloy late in the evening accompanied by lawyers.

The ownership switch will be completed only when the license renewals are in, apparantly late November.

This will be great news, as the old codgers will be locked away, and the young 'fun-folk' will get the Island Bar + the beautiful beer garden out front.

The low down I hear is that you aren't exactly engraciating yourself with any of the bar owners with this sort of material.

No need to ingratiate myself with anybody, just telling the facts as they tell them themselves to anybody who asks, including you.

No rumours & gossip will be spread by me, if I can avoid it, and all facts are double- and triple-checked. Almost all rumours spread around Lamma turn out to be false or grossly incorrect and one-sided anyway.

There have never been any unsubstantiated rumours or gossip in the Lamma-zine and I'll try my very best to avoid them. Stories like the above one wouldn't make it into the e-zine anyway as I try my best to promote all local restaurants & bars.

It is so refreshing to hear a mind so uncluttered by facts that reality can just be ignored. Ever thought of being a lawyer.
