"Bobsy Gaia"? That's actually his name now? |

It's kind of a nickname, like Lamma-Gung. Bobsy is his real first name, I think. Surname is Jureidini, from his Lebanese father. The SCMP didn't use my nickname only when interviewing me, despite their verbal promises and written confirmations, but they seem happy to accommodate Bobsy Gaia, the local "celebrity"... ...and they publish Facebook posts as printed Letters to the Editors with the full name, without any permission or even asking the writers first, upsetting them. Very dubious journalistic ethics in general... |

Bombay just got a pretty nice and active Facebook page, like many of the non-Chinese YSW restaurants who have abandoned their website or never set one up in the first place. Post your comments, pictures and review! https://www.facebook.com/bombaybarrestaurant/ The comments in the Lamma Residents group are very positive so far, "10 out of 10": https://www.facebook.com/groups/2418687010/permalink/10153251005902011/ Lamma-zine: Nov 1, '15: Bombay Arriving on Lamma:

Christmas/NY Special in Bombay. I tried the first two dishes the other day and they were delicious, especially the fruity naan, a first for me!

Submitted by Bombay Bar & Grill. We've tried their set dinner for two the other day and it was really good and fantastic value, especially as we had quite some leftovers to take home! I've got to try one of their several set lunches very soon. All set lunches are below $100, appetisers and soft drink included; not easy to find these days in Yung Shue Wan...

What's new in the restaurant scene on Lamma? Lamma Hilton on the Sok Kwu Wan main strip has recently closed down for good, according to our SKW Correspondent. Canaan Kitchen in Yung Shue Wan is up and running, cooking delicious home-made Cantonese food from Wed-Sat, take away anywhere along YSW Main Street. I didn't preorder, but it was ready for takeaway within 5 minutes. Lamma-Por (HK-Cantonese) approves and so do I! Very reasonable prices and daily changing 3 menu options. Check out their Facebook page. Meeting our new Police Chief, Ms. Solid Kwan, and her group of Italian friends visiting HK by sheer coincidence in Bombay Rest. last Saturday, I asked her for a short review. Her friends all loved it, she said. She WhatsApped: "As a curry lover, I found Bombay is more yummy than those in town. Pleasant environment with reasonable price is value for money! I hope the quality can be maintained in a positive way!!" Lamma Grill events in Feb., from their nice, new website: http://www.lammagrill.com/#events Plus another Quiz Night in The Waterfront! What else is new? Any Lamma bar or restaurant, let us know and we'll tell Lammaites here, in the Lamma-zine and in various places on Facebook, of course!

Lamma Community Market this afternoon starting at 3pm, spaces outdoors and indoors still available. Contact Lamma Grill at 2982 1447. More Lamma Grill events... One fun foodie experience we've just experienced on Lamma was ordering Canaan Kitchen takeaway from the ferry from Central and picking it up when arriving, during the 5-minute switch-over to the Pak Kok Ferry! This might become very popular for commuters from Central or Aberdeen. A well-known, hotel-trained Cantonese chef is cooking from prepared ingredients, right after your order by phone (9739 7816), so the food is ready, freshly cooked and ready within a few minutes. You arrive at the YSW ferry pier and the food is awaiting you, ready to take home! Just $48 for a complete set, including Chinese soup, including delivery. Daily changing 3 options, available from Wed - Sat, noon - 9pm. Talking to their friend last night at Shrove Tuesday, who's also doing the intensive Facebook marketing - https://www.facebook.com/canaan.kitchen - this is expected to grow and become a regular offering on the Lamma foodie scene. We loved the great, original food (think Man Kee before it changed ownership) made with high-quality ingredients. We highly recommend the extra options of a $15 (HUGE) pork chop or chicken fillets. The single dinner was big enough for the two of us, plus enough left-overs to keep me happy for next day's lunch! {L_ATTACHMENT}: Canaan-Kitchen-menu.jpg [ 115.51 KiB | Viewed 7320 times ]

March events in Lamma Grill. Sorry for the late post but didn't get the virtual poster till today and too inconvenient (or too lazy) to shoot their non-virtual banners outside the Lamma Grill and the Central Ferry Pier 4. "Lamma's Got Talent" might be another Lamma First? Long discussed and anticipated, but only now becoming a real event, maybe the first of a little series?
