Transnoodle's Final Gig: (Facebook event)
No, really! Kevin the Voigtian & his family are leaving HK end of the month, so it might be REALLY their last gig this time, after a few farewells over the years:

"Awesome gig - definitely reminds me of the good old Lamma days!"

Kevin Voigt writes:

"FINAL MONTH: A look back at our two decades in Asia before we leave March 31. Come out this Saturday for Transnoodle's final gig. Last performance tonight!

The end of another era, with the last ever final appearance (probably) of Transnoodle, supported by Brain Damage with a hint of Nude. Tonight at the Island Bar, Lamma Island, 8pm until the Island's finest come calling. Thanks everyone, especially John for his keen eye for a riff and iconic lyrics, and Saekifying the odd song or two from the rest of us. The music will live on!

June 2009. Our eponymous song, "Transnoodle," recorded for the Underground Hong Kong II compilation. This song is kinda not the story of how the band came into being.
Transnoodle is the nickname of a Sichuan restaurant in Lamma Island, Hong Kong that's actually called Lung Kong. It was in a conversation with Darren Hayward that John Saeki decided to name his band Transnoodle.
The song is about waiting for takeaway (takeout) and reading the paper. Pics courtesy Tim O'Brien. Mix by Koya Hisakazu:"

Pizza Milano's Danny, Jenne and the 3 kids (20, 16, 13) will be emigrating to East Canada, not far from Montreal.

Danny's semi-retiring after his recent successful cancer surgeries. Wishing our friends all the very best for their future life! They promised to keep us up-to-date via their Facebook pages. After 20 years living in Canada long ago, Danny might return to Lamma someday, perhaps.

Let's celebrate another end of a Lamma era, as Pizza Milano has been part of YSW for so long, way before we arrived here more than a dozen years ago....

What's going on over Easter in Lamma's restaurants?

It's unusually quiet these days, even though there might be new record visitor arrivals on the ferries, a "Perfect Storm" with Easter Sunday, Lamma Day with dragonboat/sampan races and Canto Opera by a new-for-Lamma opera troupe on a probably sunny and warm Sunday with holidays before and after the day.

Concerto Inn Easter promotions

From Prime Bar & Grill:

"Chef Kris is brining the Beef Brisket today and cooking it tomorrow. Give me a suggestion on how you want to see it cooked and plated and if I choose yours - YOU CAN HAVE ONE FREE!"

Plus an exchange today on the usually advertising-free Lamma Dog Owners Facebook group:

{L_ATTACHMENT}:

Prime-Easter-14-rev.jpg [ 111.16 KiB | Viewed 6159 times ]

Trey Menefee: I usually don't allow ads on the group, but advertisers don't usually offer Lamma dogs a lamb shank...

Kris Moa: That is a lamb shank bone! But it's a gooood bone. Sunday, there will be a lamb LEG bone.

Lamma-Gung: Will this generous, free offer also apply to hungry-but-poor guests who'll be eager for the delicious, nutritious marrow inside those bones?

It's at Prime Bar & Grill. 47 Main Street, YSW

Come in the bar across from the old Diesel's on Main Street. Walk thru the bar and then out the back thru the kitchen and you will find this patio, and two more also.

What's happening on Mother's Day, May 11, in Lamma's restaurants?

First one to send their promotions, Concerto Inn:

Trying their children's menu recently (after them sniggering about me being eager to try it), I actually enjoyed this a lot.
It's actually OK value for money, including drink and ice cream for below $100, all inside a kids-friendly Space Shuttle! I wonder if they've got a dish especially for girls?

News from 7th Avenue:

"GOOD MORNING EVERYONE. THIS JUST IN FROM OUR FRIENDS AT M.A.D Events....

We have been extremely busy the past 2 weeks but we're happy to say that we've got some great events coming up! We're starting off with a summer themed paint party next Saturday 24th May.

We are bringing the first and of course the only "MAD Paint Party" to Yung Shue Wan, Lamma Island at 7th Avenue Bar and Restaurant. Like we said before, with their spacious outdoor space, it will be a great night for everyone to get together, splash some paint (get into a paint fight?), drink some jungle juice, play some beer pong and get your jiggle on with the unique BOTTOM DWELLERS playing their funky music live.

We're aiming for a 8:30pm start but it's a 'everyone is welcome at any time type of event'. The party will go on until late

We're looking forward to seeing you there!

Team 7venth"

Last week of Pizza Milano, after far more than 10 years on Lamma. Get your last takeaway or sit-down pizza, pasta or their famous tiramisu.

We'll be missing Danny & Jenne and the kids who'll be emigrating to Canada where Danny has lived for many years before.
We'll both be missing them, plus a lot of their long-time, loyal customers. All the best to them in their future endeavours, a new life in a much cooler climate.

Lamma Grill will be opening in the same spot in early July, after closing in Tai Yuen Village a few months ago.
All the very best success to them, this might become a really popular place very quickly!

Tomorrow, Sun, June 28, 3-6pm, farewell party of Pizza Milano! Plus a welcome party for Lamma Grill:

"Announcement: #LammaitesFriends:
Sunday, (29th June 2014) marks the last day of Pizza Milano on Lamma Island.
We will open as usual from 12noon~3pm. From 3pm~6pm will close to the public for our farewell party... free foods & drinks will be served, (PM uniform of all sizes will be given away as souvenirs). Please come & join us... WELCOME TO ALL!

* The wrench of leaving was obviously not that easy. The impact of the move & leaving people behind is kind of bitter sweet. We will definitely miss the old times, our routines & fantastic Lamma folks yet we will all share good memories. I hate saying goodbye and definitely not looking forward to all the sadness, hugs will pacify the emotion ...so, pls be there... THANKING YOU ALL FOR YOUR 18 YEARS PATRONAGE..."
