Recently, in Middle East hotspot Dubai, I met an entertaining and amusing chap called Chris Keir. He is a plumbing engineer who told me he was a Lamma regular in the nineties and enjoyed a friendship with Capital Restaurant owner Gerard, amongst others. Anyway, if you are ever in the Astoria Hotel public bar in Bur Dubai, he will no doubt buy you a drink. And its a bar with a lively clientelle, to put it mildly. |

He returns to Hong Kong on a three-year contract this month after nine years in Dubai. He will stay in Wanchai and take up residence on a corner seat in the Wanch pub shortly. The very best of luck to one of Kent's finest. |

Good to know he has a new perch in Wanchai. It just so happens I was in his old pub the Astor Hotel in Dubai last night and the bar staff and ladies say he is much missed because of his habit of buying people drinks. |

He is back working in Dubai holding court at the cosmopolitan Astoria Hotel public bar Thursday and Friday nights. Generous as ever and quite amusing. |
