No change to Pak Kok-Aberdeen ferry fares announced yet.

Is the fare really going to be "$16.1" and all those others with odd numbers of cents?
If so it's going to be a pain for those using coins.

$16.1 is just 3 coins at a minimum, but there's a future SKW fare of $9.90 for elderly and disabled people: that takes at least 6 coins, usually even more.
Many people will probably just round up and throw in a 10$ coin.

Not so many will be happy to round $16.1 up to $17 though.

I remember what a drag it was paying busfares before Octopus. Always having to have lots of little coins.

I think the ticket booth will become a lot busier.

That is probably what the ferry company is relying on to justify this rise.

Yes, but it means 9x10c in your change. The kiosk attendant will hold on to the 50c and 20c coins.

Mad hike. The boats are getting bigger and crowdier. Holiday boats are full and extra departures are often. Why such a big hike? Damn the government!

This price hike finally makes it economic for me to get a monthly ticket.

how much would the monthly ticket cost?

$621, up 7% from $580.

The single tickets will go up 11%, to $16.10 and $22.30.
Definitely one more reason to get a monthly ticket.
See details of new fares here.

We'll finally get two late ferries per week now, 2:30am on Sat and Sun morning, at the same, regular fare, I believe.<HR>
On the plus side, the Pak Kok-Aberdeen ferry fares will remain stable for up to the next 3 years, according to this questionnaire distributed at the ferry pier to passengers recently:

You can click to enlarge and then print this form to choose your preferred of the 3 options for the future schedule (from Sep) and submit to Lammadonna's office. More forms are also available in her District Council office.

Post subject:  230am ferry

I was on the first 230am ferry Fri. morning July 1 (public holiday) and there were only 2 others on there with me. I hope they don't just test the late ferry for a month and get rid of it before people properly know about it.
The workers all seemed pissed to have to be at the dock that late, and the sailors were half asleep. Something tells me that they won't be fighting for that late ferry to stick around.

The same thing has happened a few times.
People demand it, but hardly anyone actually uses it.

They should just let sampans use one of the Central piers after midnight or 1AM and the ferry staff could go home, and any revellers could get a boat whenever they wanted instead of a fully crewed ferry running at 1% capacity and burning tons of fuel to take 3 people home.

Sampan from Central? The sailing time would be way too long and it'd be too costly to run. Aberdeen or Cyperport (Telegraph Bay) piers are better options.

Compared to other ferry routes, we seem to be enjoying the cheapest ferry fare in Hong Kong. For comparison:

Peng Chau: 26.8/39.4 HKD
Cheung Chau: 24.6/35.3 HKD
Mui Wo: 28.4/40.8 HKD
Park Island: 22.0 HKD
Disco Bay: 33.8 HKD

I didn't notice these ferry routes were any less crowded either.
