I've heard a rumour that at the booth next to the turnstiles in Central they pull up the photo matching the monthly ticket as people go in.

The story goes that a mother was rumbled using her daughter's monthly ticket and they were thus blacklisted.

Seems rather meanspirited, the tickets only allow one use per day and the ride has been paid for, kids over 11 have to pay full fare; but it's not like we have any say in the matter.

Can anyone verify or otherwise?
Purely out of academic interest, of course.

I dunno, "my friend" just recently lent his monthly pass to his girlfriend for a day's use, and she made the trip with no trouble, on off-peak hours. His pass was only issued last year so if the photos are saved on digital record, his would probably be in there.

Just a data point -- interested to hear more, as my friend might want to lend his pass to his girlfriend a few other days when he is staying in Lamma and he certainly wouldn't want to get blacklisted.

Perhaps the mother's child was under 11 in which case it would be an adult trying to travel on a child's fare. I think camera's are a bit over the top unless they are losing thousands of dollars a month through fare-fraud, which I doubt.

I don't think they have a live camera.

Anyway, I wouldn't consider it fraud as the monthly ticket can only be used for one return trip per day. Whoever uses it, it's already been paid for.
But HKKF makes the rules and enforces them.
