These remote control aerocopters are becoming really popular on Lamma, it seems. This is from a third company already I know about flying them professionally, testing them out on Lamma.

I saw a complete set in HMV the other day, a quadrocopter including photo and video cameras, for in- and outdoor use, remote-controlled from a mobile phone app, streaming video via Wifi to your smartphone, for less than HK$2,400. I was tempted, but it's far above my discretionary spending budget.

Stuart sent this brand-new link to me today, only 1 single view so far on YouTube! It's filmed at sunset flying over YSW harbour, professionally cut, edited and even set to music!
This is the first aerocopter video I've seen that makes me realise once again that I still love living here, despite all the changes happening, often for the worse, over the last 11+ years. It'll take a lot more to drive me off this still beautiful island.

Stuart writes: "Here is a short aerial video that I put together of the opera house and YSW harbor last month. You can play it in full HD.

A professionally produced video by Aerobots HK about the Lamma 500 dragonboat races on Power Station Beach on May 5, '13, published online a few hours ago:

'The Lamma 500' 2013

"Staged on Lamma Island’s Tai Wan To Beach, near Yung Shue Wan, the race best-known by its short handle, ‘The Lamma 500’ for its International-race standard 500-metre course length, is a celebration of Hong Kong’s Dragon Boat history. Staffed and supported by the Lamma Island Fishermen’s Recreation and Sports Association, The Laracy & Co Lamma International Dragon Boat Festival blends the history of Lamma’s sea-faring community with the present-day competition of local Hong Kong teams and international guest competitors.

Using our Octocopter we captured the races from the air and got a bird's-eye-view of the crowds who came to watch."

Lamma Video of the Week, Nov 4, 2013:

Lamma Forest, August 2012 - by ABLE Charity

A great and professionally done video, filmed and produced by Infinity Productions, with a few still shots by Yours Truly, including the ones shot from a (door-less) helicopter. Lots of historic, flora and tree planting photos, plus quite a number of interviews (10 mins).

The formerly nice paths through the Lamma Forest in the video are now almost completely grown over, 1 year later. I tried to follow them recently, being quite familiar with the paths, from the top of Heart Attack Hill to the Pak Kok Sitting-Out Area. But I lost the path several times and had a tough time getting through the dense, tall brush. Not recommended anymore for casual off-path hiking, for the time being. Tree planting seems to have been discontinued as well, I wonder?

Any path clearing coming up, I wonder? Almost too late in the year for the formerly regular path maintenance...
The Lamma Forest website hasn't been completed ("Lorem ipsum..." text) or updated in far more than a year either.

You might have seen this already, the 2nd Lamma Zombie movie made in recent years?

This is not the first, pretty famous one filmed around the ancient Shek Li sanatorium (now "Canaan Garden" Christian retreat) and on the way to Po Wah Yuen. This one is mostly set very close to or inside Open Space in Tai Ling, almost up to Lamma Winds, with quite a number of Lamma talents involved in all aspects.

I discovered this link via Sue Shearman's excellent blog which has quite a few Lamma references, for example a great eulogy to Diesel's.
