This latest photo (Feb 27) is wonderful.

Reminds me of the old joke ... "Don't you dare look at me in that tone of voice!" . 8)

Thanks Chuckm, unfortunately the weather at the moment still sucks

Weather forecast for today
It will be cold. Cloudy at first. Dry with sunny periods during the day. The maximum temperature will be about 14 degrees. Fresh northerly winds, strong over offshore waters and on high ground.

Just what on earth are you folks doing over there to get the Weather Gods so riled up??

The effect seems to have spread all the way to Vancouver, where we're going thru an unusually chilly spring so far. It snowed like blazes last night, and the flowers in my garden are becoming very confused :(

What happened, I suddenly noticed when going to check out the weather forecast before heading to work, that several days of forecasting is missing - bad forecasting or do we have a censor amongst us ??

I'd call it self-censorship...
Guy is the official moderator of this Pictures... forum anyway, so it's up to him.

In the last few days, he's replaced his former forecasts almost daily with a new one, not just appending them. I thought it to be deliberate as he usually knows what he's doing...for whatever unknown reason that might only be known to him...

At first I thought I may have drunk too much "Miller Beer"

I will excuse Guy, as his photo's are some of the best on the web and eagerly awaited each morning.

I am still waiting for the shot of the bird on the aircon, trying to cool down

I'd still *love* to see a live webcam so I could witness the weather in real time, but I think that possibility has been exhausted twice already. Pity, really. If I were a permanent resident I'd do it myself, provided I had a decent location and good uplink Internet speed.

The ecstacy problem will have to be dealt with somehow ... it has become a world-wide scourge. I suspect it makes the freewheeling old days on Lamma seem rather tame.

Controversy in a Weather thread? I guess we could always rag on the weather prognosticators. It's a common Canadian blood sport.

Chuck!

I thought you're reading the blog occasionally or at least have a quick look at the home page? The webcam has been up for several weeks now and is just one click from the home page, upper left corner, the windmill photo, just below the current weather info.

It links to HK Electric's new live webcam showing the windturbine rotating 24 hours a day, in high frame rate video, plus other technical real-time info about the operation, like the current windspeed and power generated.

It will also show the sunrise behind it and the weather can be easily seen as well. It shows only the wind turbine, so it's not too exciting to watch for more than a few minutes, unfortunately.

The Lamma.com.hk webcam is still pending as only one person has chipped in so far to purchase the pretty cheap equipment and nobody has volunteered to help with the setup. We've got a great location and 3Mb permanent Broadband already and a single $1,000 promised donation, that's all so far.

Not enough to get started, unfortunately...

I tried that link a couple of times a few weeks ago and got nothing, so I assumed technical difficulties. I must have another look!

Thanks for the heads up! :)

Well, I just tried the Magical Spinney Thing webcam link again ... three times. All I get is about 5 or 10 frames and then the stream stops dead. Methinks there's a bandwidth problem between HK and Canada, not on Lamma. I assume that HEC is using their fibre-optic link to get to the Internet. I have 10Mbps inbound, so it has to be a choke point somewhere along the way. *sigh* :(

Chuck,
That's interesting. I've just tried it again and there's no problem at all. Very smooth video, no interruptions, for an unlimited time.

I'll let HK Electric know about your problems, as it's most likely the same problem for other international webcam viewers.

I'm still trying to get support or at least advice from them for a Lamma.com.hk webcam.

Back to the weather report...
