not sure if there are any other airsoft players here on lamma or any playing feilds on lamma, but would like to catch up with any that do play here.

Hey! As a peace-loving but-not-angry ex-hippie who hasn't joined a mob in decades, I'm wondering:
What the heck is Airsoft and who's been playing where before?

We need to know this soon, so the dwindling number of Lamma ex-hippies can try to start forming an "angry mob". This might take us quite a while with our creaking bones and other age-related frailties. It'll be a quite a slow-moving mob with our walking sticks and walking frames, so I hope the Airsoft players will give us a headstart, please?

Also, lynching sounds like too much of an exertion and hard work. The best the Airsoft players can hope for would be tarring and feathering, with maple syrup and pink feather boas donated by the Lamma Dragons.

You don't have to be a hippie to be unhappy about having the countryside covered with thousands of plastic pellets, that either degrade releasing poisonous chemicals or are washed into the sea to choke fish.

Aware of a field here before but don't see any recent games planned. Yes would love a meet up to discuss planning a small event.

Airsofters? You mean war gamers! Why didn't you say so! Airsofter sounds kind of like softies, a kinder, gentler version of war gamers?

There have been a few happening quite recently, some mentions even made it into the Lamma-zine, mainly in the ex-Lamma Quarry's ex-Cement Factory.
But as they seem to be doing quite a bit of commercial work in there this year and the entire area is private, pending the Govt.'s plans to put 5,000 residents into the ex-Lamma Quarry, it's theoretically off-limits for now.

"Bio-degradable" plastic usually means they break up into smaller shreds of plastic. Less visible, just as toxic.
I'd be happy if these wonderful edible pellets you describe were mandatory.

I have never seen red plastic bullets. Are you sure they are BB bullets? The ones we use should be white and be gone in a matter of days.


Yes, they are, in any outdoor games. I don't know where you heard of the toxic ones, no idea what the benefit of toxic bullets would be. The poisoning would be to slow to have any impact on the game.

Toxic to plants and animals that do ingest them as they break down, not the gamers they bounce off.


I know what it's supposed to mean.
But that definition has no force of law. People will put any kind of label on a product to make it seem nicer.

Maybe you're right and the pellets are now totally benign. I hope so.
Its not like I can do anything to stop a bunch of gamers spraying them over the countryside.

Maybe they can use the fields where the locals are dumping construction waste and other crap. They can pretend it's Stalingrad or a post-holocaust battlefield.

How about we set a rule that no non-biodegradable BB bullets may be used on Lamma at all (on top of being illegal outdoors). The mighty Lamma Airsoft community (currently camouflaged as civilians) will enforce that rule. Violators will be shot. Twice. Bodies are usually bio-degradable, provided they've not been exposed to a McDonald's diet.

Man, I'm just pulling your leg. If it sounds too stupid to be true, maybe it's ironic.

Get yourself an air gun (with bio-degradable bullets) and ambush them when they leave the village. You know the jungle - they don't. They just fight for the sake of it - you defend your home. An uneven match indeed.

But seriously, if you ever find a pile of toxic plastic bullets anywhere on Lamma again, please mark the position and drop a line here. There's a good chance the team that polluted the place can be identified and made to clean up or be banned from playing here - or be shot.

There are a lot more real idiots online than people with a sense of humour, so I never assume someone is joking when they say something incredibly stupid.
Anyway, no one gets when I'm being ironic either. Probably one reason a lot of people think I'm an asshole.


Really? How would they be stopped? You have a High Council of Airsoft Players?

Just had an idea... maybe you found some of the BB pellets for the little toy guns you can buy in many shops here. They come in many funny colors, orange, yellow etc. and I'm pretty sure they are just made of cheap plastic. The bullets are not meant to be used outdoors and for wargaming they're useless anyway because too lightweight. So maybe some naughty kids are to be blamed or their parents who let them play with it outdoors.

Wargamers are naturalists. Our guns use rechargeable batteries, are very silent and fire compressed plant material. We try not to disturb native fauna by choosing fashion that helps to blend in with the forest. Ideally, the birds won't even know we're there. But poachers, fire-starters, Mainstreet pickpockets and illegal immigrants from Australia will be scared off.


It seems you're surprised, but I'm drop dead serious.

I don't see why we should allow people from outside to come here and pollute our forest. If you want to disrupt a wargame - all you have to do is walk into it. They will immediately stop the game if any non-combatants enter the battle zone because of risk of injury and resulting lawsuit. We can stall their game anytime and have our olive-green cops handle it from there.

In fact I don't think anyone is using toxic bullets. And the wargame community is usually very disciplined and cooperative. It's a sport after all and fairness is important as well as abiding to rules. Just a matter of management.

Can only agree with you here.

But setting some rules and trying to monitor it well is a good precaution against abuse. Just prohibiting (or yelling) doesn't help anything. Wargames are like weed, both start with a double-U.
