Ok. So the posts Alan deemed unworthy of the redevelopment thread were first moved to a different thread called "random crap". Aggressive and unfair. Now, I assume, these have been moved to fight club. I have no access to fight club and do not wish for access either. I don't want to fight. That having been said, there is no fight: Alan unconscionably moved certain posts and I want to understand why. Certain posters feel as if the forum isn't being moderated fairly and wish to express this view. How is this a fight? Alan - your aggressive "I will shout the loudest" tactic to forum discourse and L-G, by your acquiescence, is making me (and I suspect a number of other contributors) feel as if it is futile to participate in what should be community discussions. Alan also pulled me up about calling him Anal instead of Alan in a post, for which I apologised. It was a real typographical error and I amended the post in question. However, in the same thread, Poilikoop was called Poilipoop, and I was called Ilikeconcrete. Both, I suspect, intentionally. I have asked Alan whether the same rule applies and I await his confirmation. How about you tell us what the rules are, even if they are only to confirm that Alan's actions are not to be questioned? That way, we are all clear. A good Alfred Lloyd Tennyson quote comes to mind... 5 points for anyone who gets it. |

Alan kindly returned my e-mail: Alan {L_WROTE}: iliketurtles wrote:
However, Marc Antony called Poilikoop "Poilipoop" and someone called me "ilikeconcrete" on the same thread. Both I am sure were intentional as opposed to mine. I assume, in the interest of objectivity, you will threaten them with the same? I don't think those are as offensive. Feel free to complain LG if you want. L-G - I am making a complaint. Here is a textbook example of double standards. |

these forums are 'moderated' by alan. he can do whatever he likes however he likes. you can complain to LG but nothing will change. LG has stated to me that nobody other than alan will 'moderate' these forums, for whatever reason. most people have paying jobs and better things to do with their time other than sit behind a computer screen and argue in the cyber-world minute by minute, hour after hour, day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year. i sure the hell wouldnt. LG needs someone here, alan is the man. if you get too personal and alans feelings get hurt too badly or he gets too angry he will quit. it has happened before. these forums will never be properly moderated while alan is doing the moderating. he does not have the emotional stability to moderate properly. end of story. betcha this post wont make it here very long... |

Well, anybody wants to become co-moderator? Forums can have several equal moderators who can all voice their own opinions if they like. The rules are simple and straightforward and have remained the same for years: No name calling, no personal attacks, no criminal matters, no revealing identities of forum members. That's about all and the usual action is being moved to the private members-only Fight Club where you're free to name call and fight. In extreme cases, violating the few simple rules repeatedly in a short time, a member might be banned for a limited time, but this hasn't happened in a very long time now, fortunately. Teasing somebody or making little harmless jibes like "ilikeconcrete" or "Anal" are not sufficient to move a post to Fight Club. Spirited and heated discussion is always welcome, but fighting and name calling is not. So calling anybody a liar will get your post moved to Fight Club, but disagreeing with anybody, including moderators and voicing passionate opinions is fine and actually welcome here. So pink panther's post stays here as it doesn't violate any rules, it doesn't matter if Alan or I or anybody disagrees with the expressed opinions. As I know most of you quarreling guys in person, let's discuss this more when we meet each other next on Main Street, maybe have a coffee or a beer? everytimeagoodtime, poilkoop, ilikeconcrete, eh, turtles, how about it? |

I don't have much opinions to make, but I like editing out the strong language in the posts. I guess this is why I like moderating the Chinese forum so much. Please keep it friendly. It makes our job much easier. |

@ iliketurtles - can't think of any such quote: "A good Alfred Lloyd Tennyson quote comes to mind... 5 points for anyone who gets it." Do you possibly mean Alfred, Lord Tennyson who was Poet Laureate during much of Queen Victoria's reign? |

Moderators shouldn't be involved in the discussion. It's a bit like being the judge in your own trial. And who is going to moderate the posts of the moderator. |

poilkoop {L_WROTE}: Moderators shouldn't be involved in the discussion.
It's a bit like being the judge in your own trial. And who is going to moderate the posts of the moderator. You want your complaint to have any weight, point out an actual abuse of power. Well? Of course, you can always appeal to Lamma Gung in a PM if you have a real issue. If you want a professional moderator who does not participate in the forum otherwise; what kind of person would do that for nothing? |

You make my point so well. In other words, you got nothing except innuendo. |

Though I don't know for how much of Queen Vic's reign he was the Poet Laureate. Ahem - error of epic proportions from me! |
