We need more registered members! For a more active online community, more messages by more contributors and, last but not least, so we can spam more people with the e-zine! Hehehehe We have to admit that most people on Lamma don't know ANYTHING about the existence of Lamma.com.hk yet. This is most shocking & we cannot allow them to continue living in sheer ignorance! The referral has to send me a private message or e-mail that s/he was referred by you. Simple and pretty safe, as long as you don't re-register yourself. But I'd notice that... |

Sorry, the referrals are starting from the date of e-zine publication, meaning last Sunday, Dec 8! You have so many friends, should be no problem for you to get them to sign on! If all LAP members & friends would sign up, we'd have to upgrade the website server... if mr 3 is so eager, just spend the $888 to buy him a home page! You must have spent a lot more to pamper him already! |

An easy way of getting a lot more chances in our Lucky Draw is to e-mail one of my e-zine e-mails to your Lamma friends! Include ex-Lamma people as they often really like to hear what's happening on the island on a weekly basis! And the e-zxine might encourage them to register... Each of them who registers at Lamma.com.hk, one more Lucky Draw ticket for you! All they need to do is let me know that you sent them! P.S. e, if you win, you might want to get a free home page redesign for LAP? |

I've referred HEAPS of people to here (that actually live on Lamma - before k@ pipes up) It would seem better to offer prizes for NEWCOMERS to the site??? It seems a bit incestuous to just keep giving prizes to the people who already come here?!?!?! hahahahahhaahaha We're just one big happy family!!!!!!! Just inviting people!! People visit for the GREAT CONVERSATIONS & FUNNY DISCUSSIONS AND SERIOUS DISCUSSIONS! I've never visited a board to win a prize. It makes me think the bb is not that good if they need to buy their visitors!!!!!!! Just my ten cents - my two cents is free

BBChris, you're contradicting yourself a bit here, no? First, you said "Offer prizes to newcomers!", then you say that we shouldn't as it makes the board look bad and you'd never join a board offering prizes to newcomers!. My original idea (the currently running promotion) is to give existing members an incentive to get more members, otherwise why bother and make the extra effort? The existing members already know the quality of our website already, so we don't look bad to them, I hope, and they'll be our best promoters. Some, like e, are very eager about this, trying even harder than usual to get new members, trying to win a free home page (or a redesign in LAP's case) for their own family/small business... Don't worry, you'll get your prize, you've just briefed me! Paying work has to come first... and then the e-zine on a weekly deadline... |

What would stop someone from registering many new members themselves using an anonymous proxy and a new email address when they sign up? How would you know that they aren't just an alias of the member who referred them? |

Of course I will have contradictions! I'm a Rock Goddess. 
I was the third person to sign up here. Why? Cause I like discussions & online communities. Not everyone is into them. I was simply thinking out loud with my first posting in this thread, then when I thought about it more I realised that I was actually turned off by sites that begged me to join. I have been begged three times to join bbs and each time the bbs turned out not to be worth participating in. By and by people are checking out this site. Lamma only has a small population and an even smaller ex- population, what's the rush? By mentioning the site in conversation, I know tons of people here who have checked it out and plenty more that know about it but don't have the time or inclination to check it out. I have also been a member of sites where hundreds of people posts. What happens then? Well people tend to start their own boards and create conflict. Interesting in a study of human behaviour!!! I wont be taking part in getting more members to win a prize. Of course I will continue to tell people about the site cause I think there's a lot of amusing posts here. I don't mean to be disrespectful Lamma-gung - you are a wonderful person. I'm merely stating 'my point of view'. |
