Lamma Gung, Alan and forum moderators,

Can the moderators please just block and trash any ads posted by people wanting to move to Lamma and looking to rent? if they're so damn keen, they can do the legwork and go run by the agents themselves. And they can pay their stupid bloody rent prices they want to pay. Or not.

Enough already with the newcomers. Next thing you know, people will be opening up 'high-end' clothing stores and such nonsense on our Main Street... Oh, wait...

The island doesn't have sufficient or robust enough an infrastructure to cope with all these wannabe Lammaites, with their smug little families and hordes of crotch fruit. And the next thing you know, they'll want a family dog. Because lord knows, Lamma needs more family dogs. The piles of waste/trash at the various waste "collection" points clearly can't handle the influx, but boy do the family dogs love to drag out those dirty nappies.

Enough already

They hardly ever get any responses offering flats, that should be discouraging enough.
Much as I would like to set up a checkpoint at the pier and turn back anyone wearing a suit, I'm afraid the once bohemian idylll that was Lamma is past.
Those few holdouts are being pushed out and soon it will be nothing but Armani and poodles.

Too late, the Armani Poodles are already here, poodles in their cutesy designer dresses and their cutesy human companions taking over the outside of the Lamma Grill today, ooh-ing and aah-ing while trying to "master the art of the selfie"...

But where are the selfie sticks which have become not uncommon on YSW Main Street?

that looks like something from the Carnival where you can throw balls at them to knock them off. What do you win? A poodle?

No, you'd win the severe animosity of Lamma's legions of pet lovers!

I'm with you... but the cute poodles are just 'tourists' so usually gone by about 5pm. The owners can be annoying and syrupy though :-) Armani. No, will never get that bad here. (Too many kitschy tat though which is popular.) Seriously now... enough 'Brand name' shops in Central, so no need to cart their butts over to Lamma. When they come to Lamma, it's a quality dog companion day out for them all, and seafood. Can't knock it. But its' true. The Lamma that many of us have known and loved is disappearing, as is Hong Kong in general. In the meantime, I'm enjoying dogs, and nature, until it's all gone. Or until I'm going to have to throw a tantrum on a packed path.
