Typhoon Signal No. 8 is hoisted right now, the first time this year.
  • Shops are closing and the last ferry has arrived now, cutting us off from HK Island for the rest of the day and night...
  • Our neighbourhood in YSW is getting very noisy from stuff being blown around, banging & clangling, rattling & rustling...
  • TV reception is very poor in this storm, watching the 9/11 anniversary commemorations, live from NYC...
  • Some plants on our balcony are being blown over and need to be secured...
How are people on Lamma Island spending this time?

Hanging out in bars?
Playing Mah-Jongg, like so many all over Hong Kong?
Cuddling up at home?

How are YOU spending this time?

Hey, Chris, you really seem to like to grrrrrrrrr?
It's not your first grrrrrrrrr on this website... :suspicious:

Want to challenge me? My new Avatar from the "Masks" section in our Avatar Gallery on the left can grrrrrrrrr better than anybody!
Look deep into his eyes, notice his "smile" and then listen:

GRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

Can you two quiet down a bit. I have a job to do!

Leaves and branches everywhere, and my round white plastic table on the roof get blown off to the street. Luckily nobody get killed by it. Or I'd have been taken to the police and being interrogated there.

OK, OK, we'll be quiet now, Mr. Police (Web)Dog!

I was chatting with the owner of the new Anastasia's take-away & shop in Sha Po New Village (under the great Banyan tree on the path to Hung Shing Yeh, close to the bike shop and Scorpio):

During the typhoon signal 8 yesterday, he took the last ferry to Lamma around 2pm and cooked his take-away food. Opening his shop at 3pm, he sold out everything within 2 hours, because almost all shops and restaurants were closed.

He cooked another batch in the evening and sold everything out again in record time! Maybe his best business day ever since opening shop a few weeks ago. A true Lamma entrepreneur!
:thumb-up:

Go home. Stay there. Remain calm. Listen to the radio or monitor official Hong Kong weather websites.
