Went into Brothers a couple of days ago and was shocked at how little stock was left there. Most of the fridges were empty and the shelves were very sparse. Virtually nothing in the ice cream fridges outside.
Last night (Tuesday August 21) it was shut at 6pm when I came home from work.
What's happening. Is Brothers closing down?
Can anyone shed some light on my nearest grocery store?
Laundry next door seems to be going strong still.

It’s closing, if not already closed.

I spoke to the owners a few weeks ago and they told me they were shutting up shop by the end of the month. The building is getting renovated so they are moving out with no plans to open another shop on Lamma.

Very sad as Brothers was one of the best stocked shops on Lamma.

From experience, if you really want something on a regular basis, speak to Ivy at the fruit and veg shop closest to the pier on Main Street and she will order it for you. If she knows there is a demand she will try to stock it. :D

Unfortunately that does not help you if you have to lug it all the way home and live past Brothers!

I will miss Brothers. Good man, and he always delivered my food to my home (when you have cases of pet food per month,.. this certainly helps!).

I have heard that the building that 'Brother's had is being 'knocked down' not
renovated??

Ivy's is also a great store, and they will bring in any products that you ask for, but they won't deliver food to your home by VV, regardless of how much money you spend. That doesn't work for me, but it's a great store.

As for the laundry store next door... it's all the same old building, so I'm assuming they will also be affected? Well they certainly will if the building is being knocked down, as it's all the same unit.

That's all that's left of Brother's Store now....
Will it become another store with high-priced flats above?

Another Village House being "redeveloped", many more waiting for permission or waiting for the demolition crews....

There is obviously a lot more technique than meets the eye. They managed to demolish the entire concrete structure and leave the glass door intact :)

looks like a bomb site, like the rest of our village, i know sometimes you can say its the way lamma is but its constant drilling, digging, dumping etc...getting tired of it to be honest and it comes at a time when more ppl seem to want to move here and put up the housing costs....amazing
